A devastating roof collapse at the popular Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo has left the Dominican Republic in mourning after at least 124 people were confirmed dead and more than 150 injured. The tragic incident occurred just after midnight on Tuesday, April 8, during a live performance by Dominican merengue icon Rubby Pérez, who was among those killed. The nightclub, a long-standing venue in the capital, was packed with fans when the structure suddenly gave way, trapping hundreds beneath the rubble.
Rescue operations are underway, with 145 people rescued from the wreckage so far. Emergency crews are searching the debris as the cause of the collapse remains under investigation. In an Instagram post earlier this week, the Toronto singer announced a special one-night-only fan screening set for May 14.
