1. Chloe Bailey sued for allegedly failing to pay songwriter

R&B singer Chloe Bailey has been sued by songwriter Melvin “4rest” Moore, who claims he was not properly credited or compensated for his contributions to three songs on her latest album, “Trouble In Paradise.” The lawsuit, filed against Bailey, Parkwood Entertainment, and Columbia Records, accuses the defendants of copyright infringement, fraudulent misrepresentation, violations of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), civil conspiracy, and deceptive business practices. According to Billboard, Moore alleges that he did not give consent for the commercial exploitation of the songs “Favorite,” “Might As Well,” and “Same Lingerie,” which he says were written based on his personal experiences.

Despite being credited as a songwriter on two of the three tracks, Moore contends that his attempts to resolve the matter through negotiations over nearly 200 days were unsuccessful. He is seeking up to $150,000 for each intentional copyright violation, a public retraction from the defendants, and an investigation into the revenue generated from the disputed songs. Additionally, Moore has requested punitive damages of $5 million per song and filed a DMCA takedown notice to have the tracks removed from the internet.

2. Davido postpones fifth album “5ive” to April 18

Nigerian music star Davido has pushed back the release of his highly anticipated fifth studio album, “5ive,” by a month. Originally scheduled to drop on March 15, the album will now be released on April 18. While the singer did not disclose the reason for the delay, excitement remains high among fans as he continues to build momentum with new music. Announcing the project on social media, Davido described “5ive” as a deeply personal album that reflects his journey, truth, and growth.

Despite the postponement, 2025 has already been a landmark year for Davido. He secured his fifth Grammy nomination at the 67th Grammy Awards for Best African Song Performance with his feature on Chris Brown’s “Sensational.” He is also in the running for five awards at the upcoming 17th Headies, including the prestigious Artist of the Year category. “5ive” is expected to include collaborations with Omah Lay and Adekunle Gold, adding to the anticipation surrounding the project.

3. Riky Rick to be honored with an album 3 years after his death

South African rapper Riky Rick, who tragically passed away on 23 February 2022, is set to be honored with a posthumous album, “Boss Zonke Forever.” His wife, Bianca Naidoo, announced the project on social media on 23 February 2025, exactly three years after his death. The news was met with an outpouring of love from fans who have continued to celebrate the late artist’s legacy. The 16-track album will feature collaborations with some of South Africa’s biggest stars, including Cassper Nyovest, Blxckie, and Focalistic, giving listeners one last opportunity to hear his voice in new music.

Riky Rick, whose real name was Rikhado Makhado, was just 34 years old when he passed away, reportedly by suicide, leaving behind his wife and two children. His death left a lasting impact on the South African music scene, which later mourned the losses of AKA and Costa Titch in 2023. However, “Boss Zonke Forever,” set for release on April 4, aims to keep his memory alive through the music he was so passionate about. Sharing the album cover and tracklist on Instagram, Bianca captioned the post with a heartfelt tribute: “Forever, forever ever ♾️❤️,” signaling that Riky Rick’s influence and artistry will live on.

4. Young Thug announces first show since plea deals

Young Thug is making his long-awaited return to the stage after securing his release from jail through a plea deal. The Atlanta rapper has been confirmed as a headliner for Belgium’s Les Ardentes festival on July 5, marking his first live performance since his 2022 arrest. While fans are eager to see Thugger back in action, the rapper has yet to comment on the announcement, and no U.S. shows have been scheduled despite the terms of his plea deal requiring him to perform four charity concerts annually.

His relative silence since his release may be due to an ongoing legal battle with AEG (Anschutz Entertainment Group), which claims Thug defaulted on a 2017 contract that granted him a $5.25 million loan. AEG asserts that, as a result, they hold the rights to his publishing and the ability to promote his live performances. The company previously sued the rapper in 2022 for nearly $6 million, alleging he continued to book independent shows despite their contractual agreement. With legal troubles looming, Young Thug’s return to the stage raises questions about how he will navigate both his career and his obligations under the dispute.

5. Tems celebrates San Diego FC’s historic first MLS win

Grammy Award-winning artist Tems celebrated San Diego FC’s stunning 2-0 victory over LA Galaxy in their first-ever Major League Soccer (MLS) match. The Nigerian singer, who became a club partner in February through her company, The Leading Vibe, took to social media to express her excitement over the team’s historic debut win. Danish forward Anders Dreyer stole the show with a brace, while Mexican star Hirving Lozano played a key role in securing the triumph over the reigning MLS Cup champions. The victory marks a dream start for the expansion team, setting the tone for their ambitious entry into the league.

Tems’ involvement with San Diego FC highlights the growing connection between music, sports, and global entertainment in MLS. Her partnership, alongside notable figures like actress Issa Rae and former World Cup winner Juan Mata, reflects the club’s vision of making an impact both on and off the pitch. As the team builds on this momentum, they will prepare for their highly anticipated home opener against St. Louis City SC on March 1. With the excitement surrounding their debut, San Diego FC is quickly emerging as a team to watch this season.
