Women’s designer Erdem had the most modest and romantic collection at its London Fashion Week showcase. Prior to fashion week, precisely last October, the brand in collaboration with H&M released a collection which was titled ‘The secret life of flowers’ alongside a feature film and it seems Erdem Moralıoğlu is still very much enthused by flowers. As proof to this, his recent LFW runway show was still all about flowers and romance although this time it was mostly enveloped in darker hues.
According to the designer, Adele Astaire together with her brother Fred were the inspiration for this collection. The duo were the toasts of Broadway in the 20’s. The designer didn’t explicitly explain how he worked the duo into his collection however we can note the comparison between the runway looks with what was worn during the 1920’s. Aside from the obvious floral patterns, another notable thing in the collection that really bore semblance to a 20’s fashion vibe was the high-necked and frumpy nature of the romantic pieces. The significance was that during that era, romance was more about impression and subtle expression than they were visual.
