Unimpeachable Grace! Carolina Herrera Takes A Final Bow With Her Fall 2018 Collection At New York Fashion Week 2018

A fashion and culture enthusiast who's really a food loving…
Carolina Herrera took her final bow Monday night as she’s stepping into an ambassadorial role at the company she founded in 1980 and making room for creative director Wes Gordon, who has quietly been designing at her side. At 79, Herrera herself is one of the last of the established designers to bow out. Among her peers, only Ralph Lauren is still in the game.
For the 2018 presentation, the collection began with an ode to her tidy daytime uniform of pristine white shirts and black bottoms and ended with a parade of her once idiosyncratic, now classic evening style — white shirt, belt, sweeping silk faille ball skirt — that went beyond the spectrum of the rainbow. In between, there were other Herrera-isms, if perhaps not as many as one might’ve expected. Whimsical wild cat prints filled in for the charming florals she favours, 3D, Tremblant embroideries, feathers and beaded fringe as well. And so we say, hello to Gordon and a goodbye to Herrera.
