1. Vanessa Hudgens gives birth to first child

Actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens reportedly gave birth to her first child on July 3. Photos show Hudgens leaving a Santa Monica hospital with her newborn, cradled lovingly in her arms. Her husband, baseball player Cole Tucker, was seen by her side. Hudgens, 35, first announced her pregnancy during the Oscars ceremony in March, gracing the red carpet in a stunning gown that accentuated her baby bump.

The couple, who married in 2023, have not yet publicly confirmed the birth or revealed the baby’s gender or name. This is a joyous occasion for Hudgens and Tucker, and no doubt their families are thrilled to welcome the new addition. While details remain private for now, congratulations are pouring in for the happy couple!

2. Rema’s ‘Raves & Roses’ surpasses 100 weeks on Billboard 200 chart

Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema has achieved another milestone with his debut album “Raves & Roses,” which has officially surpassed 100 weeks on the prestigious Billboard 200 Global Chart. This impressive feat solidifies Rema’s position at the forefront of Afrobeats’ global takeover. The album’s longevity on the chart can be attributed in part to the phenomenal success of its lead single, “Calm Down.” The track shattered records, becoming the first-ever African song to reach one billion streams in the United States and achieving a Guinness World Record for topping the MENA chart.

“Calm Down” also climbed to number three on the Billboard Hot 100, the highest position ever for a song by a Nigerian artist, and held its spot for over 52 weeks, another record for Nigerian music. Rema joins Wizkid in an exclusive club of Nigerian artists with albums lasting over 100 weeks on the Billboard 200 Global Chart. Wizkid’s “Made In Lagos” currently holds the record at 133 weeks.

3. South Africa: Tyla postpones North American tour indefinitely due to persistent back injury

Fans of South African singer Tyla will have to wait a bit longer to see her perform live. The rising star, known for her hit song “Water,” has postponed her North American tour indefinitely due to a persistent back injury. Tyla announced the difficult decision on social media, expressing her heartbreak at having to cancel the shows. The “Tyla Tour” was originally scheduled to kick off in March with international dates before hitting North America. While the European leg remains on the books with rescheduled dates, the North American portion is entirely on hold.

The singer has been battling the injury for over a year, and despite seeking medical help, the pain has worsened. “I’ve been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened,” Tyla wrote in a heartfelt message to fans. However, there’s a glimmer of hope. The Grammy winner assures fans she’s prioritizing recovery but remains committed to performing. She shared plans for physical therapy and a gradual return to performing while managing her health. Fans in Europe can expect updated show information soon, while those in North America will need to wait for news on rescheduled dates.

4. Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark to headline Team WNBA at women’s All-Star Game

Standout rookies Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will headline Team WNBA as they take on the U.S. Women’s National Team at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game. This high-profile event is set for July 20 in Phoenix and marks a historic first—the first time these two young stars will be teammates. Both Reese and Clark were top picks in this year’s WNBA Draft, drafted from Louisiana State University and the University of Iowa, respectively. Their arrival has injected a surge of excitement into the league, and their on-court performances haven’t disappointed.

Reese, a force on the Chicago Sky, spoke about the honor with tears welling up, acknowledging the doubters she faced entering the league but celebrating the achievement: “I’m just so happy… I know the work I put in. Coming into this league, so many doubted me.” This isn’t a one-woman show, though. Team WNBA boasts a stellar roster alongside the rookies. Veteran All-Stars like Nneka Ogwumike, DeWanna Bonner, and Brionna Jones will bring their experience to the court.

5. Man Utd. trigger one-year extension to Ten Hag deal

Manchester United have announced that they have triggered a one-year extension clause in manager Erik ten Hag’s contract, keeping him at the club until 2026. The Dutchman, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2022 from Ajax, had a deal originally due to expire next year. However, United’s faith in Ten Hag’s vision is clear, rewarding him for two successful years with an extended stay. “I am very pleased to have reached an agreement with the club to continue working together,” said a delighted Ten Hag. Looking back at his tenure, he highlighted the club’s progress: “We can reflect with pride on two trophies and many examples of progression from where we were when I joined.”

Ten Hag’s success speaks for itself. He has secured two trophies in his two years at the helm, proving his ability to deliver results. While details haven’t been disclosed, reports suggest the extension keeps his current terms without a significant pay rise. This move signifies stability for Manchester United. With Ten Hag committed for the next two years, the club can focus on building a strong foundation for future success. The extension also allows time for the new ownership group, INEOS, to implement its long-term vision alongside the manager.
