Rihanna has been announced as the new face of Dior’s J’Adore fragrance, taking over the coveted position from actress Charlize Theron who held it for two decades. This isn’t Rihanna’s first foray into the world of Dior. She made history in 2015 as the first Black celebrity ambassador for the brand and has continued a successful collaboration ever since. This new partnership signifies a return and a fresh chapter for both parties.
In a statement, Rihanna expressed her excitement about the collaboration, calling it “an honor and a mission” to represent the iconic scent. The mother-of-two added that she “looks forward to contributing to this adventure through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity.” Fans can expect to see Rihanna’s first J’Adore campaign, shot by renowned photographer Steven Klein, debut in September 2024.

Nigerian superstar Rema has cemented his place as a global force with his hit song “Calm Down” becoming the first Afrobeats song to surpass one billion on-demand streams in the United States. This achievement, revealed by music data tracker Chart Data on June 17, adds to the song’s already impressive list of accolades. “Calm Down” was originally released in February 2022 as a single on Rema’s debut album “Raves & Roses.” The song’s catchy melody and smooth Afrobeats sound resonated with listeners worldwide.
A few months later, the song received a major boost with a remix featuring American pop star Selena Gomez. This version became a global phenomenon, particularly in the US, where it shattered records for an Afrobeats track and an African artist. Rema’s achievement is a significant milestone for Afrobeats, a genre that has been steadily gaining global recognition in recent years.
