he 96th Academy Awards came to town on March 10, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and, as expected, it was a wild affair. From John Cena’s privacy barely hanging on a placard to Ryan Gosling’s Marilyn Monroe-esque “I Am Ken” performance, all activities kept the three-hour show upbeat. But nothing trumped the red carpet style. Whether it was the main event or the Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, every joint supplied its quota to form a body of fashion synergy. In all, the best dressed celebs at the 2024 Oscars festivities brought a heavy-duty punch of substance to their red carpet adventures.
Check out the best dressed stars at the 2024 Oscars festivities and the trends they presented…
#1. Blinding shimmers
The Oscars night glimmered with pride. The sequins and bling came out to play and the stars didn’t spare a sparkle. Celebrities like Gabrielle Union-Wade and Zoe Lister-Jones sported heavily embellished dresses, Margot Robbie ditched “Barbicore” for a Thiery Mugler embroidered gold corset dress, and Anya Taylor-Joy was sparkly in a Miss Sohee little black dress with a bejeweled headgear. Whether subtle or loud, the stars sparkled and shone brighter than a finely polished diamond ring on the finger of a satisfied bride-to-be.
#2. Asymmetric silhouettes
On such nights as this, there’s little fun in donning a safe piece. Some of the best dressed celebrities at the 2024 Oscars festivities let the cuts and frame speak a thousand style lessons. Kristy Sarah ushered in the drama in a statement Tony Ward couture dress in the classic black-and-white color code to preserve its polished aura. Simple yet complicated. Maintaining the same hues, Issa Rae donned a Valdrin Sahiti dress with white elaborate sleeves. You know it’s a hot trend when Kelly Rowland enters the group chat. She adopted the same colors and flexed in an exaggerated Nina Ricci number with two ornate trains on each side of an otherwise simple mini dress.
#3. Shades of black
The color black was most prevalent among the best dressed at the 2024 Oscars after-party. Varying cuts and fabrics all held onto the versatility of the hue. To mention a few style moments of the night, Jodie Turner-Smith stepped out in a killer black “revenge” Gucci dress as Vanessa Hudgens showed off her bump in a barely there Alberta Ferretti number. And for the first time since never, Cardi B sported short black manis alongside her heavily decorated black Versace dress.
#4. Flirty feathers
At the Academy Awards festivities, the adornments of feathers on celebrities were undeniable. Shonda Rhimes’ Erdem feather-trimmed dress, Shannon Thornton’s Bronx and Banco number, Coco Jones’ Dolce & Gabanna feathered sequin dress, and Lisann Walter’s purple Christian Siriano dolled-up regalia are among an endless list of looks that leaned toward the charm of a nicely feathered outfit.
#5. Pretty prints
Zendaya (once again) caused a commotion on the Oscars red carpet, this time in a Giorgio Armani Privé palm tree print dress with shimmers. Elsewhere, Sara Sampaio matched the energy in a flare Zuhair Murad floral print number. Indeed, celebrities paraded diverse, interesting prints on the red carpet, inspiring us to take it for a spin.
