The Grammys came, and per habit, Black celebs shone with enough glamour to light a thousand suns. But amidst the sea of flamboyant numbers, the stars chose to keep it muted in the beauty department in a bid to balance the high voltage of their fits. From chic monochromatic makeup looks to glistening marvels, the girls played with upbeat yet subtle glam that resulted in a pristine lineup of makeup looks and hairstyles that did their part to set the 2024 Grammy Awards carpet aflame.
Other than the Grammy awards, the 15 Percent Pledge Benefit Gala also rang celebs last week and they responded in looks that were hard to miss. With the dress code, Black Tie Black Designer, the stars illuminated the city of Los Angeles with corresponding face beats that served sass for the culture.

When Victoria Monet’s two-year-old was nominated alongside her mama for the Best Traditional R&B Performance (making her the youngest Grammy nominee), we knew Grammy night wasn’t going to be a regular affair. It was a family affair! Victoria Monet walked the carpet with her hubby and cute baby girl making a case for brown tones. Her monochrome makeup look flaunted brown smokey eyes and nude glossy lips fit right into the brown conversation of her outfit. The simplicity and spice made it one of our favorite makeup looks at the 2024 Grammys.
Elsewhere, at the 15 Percent Pledge Benefit Gala, Kelly Rowland underscored the chicness of understated glam. The vocal powerhouse graced the occasion in a pristine face beat that brought smokey eyes with a soft shimmer, glossy lips, and warm contour out to play. It seems like the stars have agreed that understated glam is the way to go for red carpets, and we’re loving the results.
Hair
The exciting thing about the red carpet is that even the most basic looks can be pumped with new life. This was the case last week with Kat Graham and her cornrows. For an event honoring Jon Bon Jovi, the actress opted for sleek reverse cornrows with spiral details in front that was a sight to see. Call your stylist, we’re updating classics this season!
