t’s a back-to-back red carpet affair with Hollywood’s finest swaying confidently in exquisite coordination. With hyper-femininity coexisting peacefully with androgynous fashion, the season is set to deliver a plethora of contrasting looks. A week after the Golden Globes occurred, the 29th annual Critics Choice Awards came to town, and the style rules were fluid. The unspoken theme seemed to be contemporary individualism, and the stars came prepared.
In honor of the finest filmmakers and television programmers, the stars assembled for the awards and recognition, and of course, the style. The minimal team elevated neutrals with strategic accessorizing while the flamboyant babes went head-on with shimmers, volumes, and wild cuts. In all, the stars went hard for the occasion regardless of their style palette. But again, that’s how stars do.
The Looks
Chef’s kiss to Ayo Edebiri’s tomboy chic all-white look. She served a Whoopi Goldberg-inspired offering featuring an oversized white suit from The Row styled with a simple tee and finished nicely with round, dark sunglasses. This was an unpredictable break from her recent girly fits, emphasizing that the star can wear it all.
Meanwhile, Aja Naomi King made a case for girlcore in a pink Oscar de la Renta mermaid gown with bow accents and a cut-out bodice. Clearly, Barbie season isn’t over yet. She styled this with statement earrings and a sleek ponytail, resulting in a youthful interpretation of whimsy feminine energy.
Fantasia Taylor is undeniably one of the best-dressed stars on these style streets. Every look she has served speaks volumes, and the 2024 Critics Choice Awards was no different. For the occasion, she reiterated that her sartorial finesse is no fluke, making a show in an all-white coordination. Featuring a corset dress with a thigh-high slit from Alin Le’ka styled with a flamboyant fur cape, she elevated the offering with embellished white pumps for more pomp. Indeed, ethereal elegance has never looked this good.
