Last Week’s Best Beauty Looks Took A Subtle Approach To Eclectic Glam

n the cyclic world of beauty, there’s a real temptation to do the most with trends. But sometimes, the looks that deliver pearl-clutching moments are those that didn’t set out with that goal in mind. Rather, they were deliberately created for the wearer in a bid to play up her God-given features. This was the case last week as the stars paraded the streets in sleek makeup looks and hairstyles that were powerful enough to hold us in awe, yet authentic enough to come off as effortless.

One of the latest celebrity makeup looks that delivered without trying hard was spotted on Victoria Monet. For a conversation at the Grammy Museum, the singer opted for a face beat that was soft yet hard to ignore. Featuring lightly-filled brows, matte neutral eyeshadow, and matching glossy lips, the latte makeup look was the perfect company for her embellished white suit and wavy platinum blonde hairstyle.

As Monet opted for understated neutrals, Janelle Monae played sassy with the hue she’s best known for — red. For an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer played the monochrome card and did justice to the color. She opted for a bright red pout that matched her all-red fit while keeping the rest of her doll-up subtle so as not to overwhelm the color.
