ith red-carpet events popping up on every side, we witnessed a slew of stylish celebrity holiday looks that championed a sassy attitude. Even with supposedly casual streetwear, the ladies served beyond basic, reiterating that a true fashionista never takes the day off. As the celebrations unfold and fashion takes an even more creative form, the bar is raised high, demanding that the best-dressed celebs render fashion-forward takes without fail. And, of course, they delivered.
The Looks
The bodysuit era isn’t over for Beyoncé. Last week, she attended the premiere of Anyone But You in New York dazzling in Prada metallic micro shorts styled with a sheer turtleneck bodysuit and neutral fur coat. To complete the party look, the hitmaker accessorized with oversized hoop earrings, Catseye sunglasses, and pumps. Even the cold temps couldn’t stop the queen’s slay.
Meanwhile, Rihanna was spied on the streets in an oversized black and denim combo with her skin fiercely popping on purpose. The edgy look centered on a bulky black coat with a fur-trimmed hemline from Junya Watanabe worn over a matching camisole and finished off with baggy jeans. RiRi added a statement Christian Dior pearl necklace and sneakers to the mix for good measure. The juxtaposition of pearls and sneakers fused with edgy style coordination is a risk typical of Rihanna to take.
Red is a highly recognized hue for the season. It speaks of love, power, and confidence in a way that delivers even in the most timid situations. Janelle Monáe leveraged the color when she visited the Jennifer Hudson Show fitted in a textured midi dress by Mara Hoffman. The popcorn dress with ruffle applique on the front bodice and sculptural sleeves synced with her red lipstick and matching heels.
