On Wednesday, December 6, Beyoncé took to social media to share a message of appreciation to all who supported her latest film, Renaissance, which topped the box office. It chronicled the production of the Houston star’s recent world tour. Viewers were also provided with a deeper look into the creation of Beyoncé’s seventh studio album of the same name, which went on to become a massive commercial success across the globe.

“I am so deeply thankful to AMC and every team member who worked so hard on this film. I just can’t thank all of you enough for your support,” she said in an Instagram post that also boasted a recap video of the documentary’s London premiere. “It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done because of the short turnaround time. I practically slept in the edit, color, and mix sessions. The race against time continued in order to get this film out so quickly. But it was so worth all the grind.”

2. Davido’s ‘Timeless’ makes Billboard Staff list for Top 50 albums of 2023

In another landmark feat, Davido’s “Timeless” made the Billboard Staff list for the top 50 albums of 2023. The record-breaking album was ranked 39th and was described as a landmark album in the global explosion of Afrobeats. Notably, “Timeless” is the only African album on the list that contains critically acclaimed and highly successful albums from around the world. Ranked number one on the list is Olivia Rodrigo’s album “Guts,” which is in contention for the Album of the Year at the 2024 Grammys.

“Timeless” came off the back of Davido’s brief hiatus, which further heightened its anticipation and contributed to its massive commercial acclaim. The album has been nominated for Best Global Album at the 2024 Grammys, which makes it Davido’s first album to get the nod. Similarly, “Unavailable” feat. Musa Keys and “Feel,” which are two of the foremost hit records on the album, were nominated for Best African Music Performance and Best Global Music Performance, respectively.

Internationally renowned award-winning singer, songwriter, and performing musician, Sho Madjozi has been quiet throughout 2023, but it seems she has been plotting and planning. The “John Cena” hitmaker entered December with a bang with her hair brand, Sparkle Braids, and within hours, most of the colors of the sparkling hair fiber were already sold out.

Now, the singer has introduced the inaugural Shoma Fest, taking place this Sunday, December 10, in Johannesburg at the pulsating heart of Mall of Africa’s Town Square from 12 to 2 p.m. This free-to-enter celebration event is a whimsical experience designed to captivate the young and young at heart with a fiesta of joy, books, and Sparkle Braids.

4. Seyi Vibez and Rema hit the studio together

A collaboration many don’t know they need seems to be on the way as the prince of Afrobeats, Rema, was spotted in a studio session with Seyi Vibez. The video, which surfaced on social media, showed the award-winning artists in a studio session with a producer working on a new project. The video sparked an intense debate on social media, with many speculating as to whether this would be a Seyi Vibez or Rema personal project. Many anticipate it is more likely to be a Seyi Vibez song, as the singer teased that he would be releasing a new album that would welcome a new dawn for him as an artist.

5. Amad Diallo returns to full training ahead of Bournemouth clash

Manchester United’s Amad Diallo has returned to full training, handing Erik ten Hag a boost ahead of their match against Bournemouth. The winger has been out of action since July after picking up a serious knee injury that halted his development under Ten Hag or a potential loan move to any other club when the likes of West Ham, Everton, and Burnley were interested in the youngster in the summer. He had been gradually upping his ante in the recovery sessions since late October, and the club media officially informed us on Thursday that Amad is available for selection. A club statement read: “Amad has returned to full training with the first-team squad as he gets back to fitness after a knee injury.”
