2. Funke Akindele launches FAAN 360 film production house
Nigerian filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has announced the launch of her film production house. In a post on Instagram, she shared the news of the official start of the Funke Akindele Network. Further revealing that the company would be in charge of all-round dealings as regards film productions, thereby describing it as a 360-degree media house.
In her words, “I’m thrilled to officially introduce The Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), my newest love and the powerhouse… FAAN represents a 360-degree approach to filmmaking and production, as well as providing PR solutions for films.” Akindele also revealed FAAN as the production house to have handled the filming of “Battle on Buka Street” in 2022 and the upcoming title “A Tribe Called Judah.”
3. South Africa: Lunga Shabalala appointed as one of the African ambassadors for Giorgio Armani
South African celebrities are working overtime, securing deals with international brands. South African actor Lunga Shabalala has been announced as one of the Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Giò Parfum ambassadors. Shabalala is part of the brand’s African squad, which includes Nigerian singer and songwriter Ric Hassani, menswear influencer and lifestyle personality Audrey Lunda, model and entrepreneur Alino Katombe, and entrepreneur Jordan Zeelie. As ambassadors, the above-mentioned gentlemen will feature in the brand’s latest campaign, filmed in and around Cape Town by veteran director of photography, Dillon Buirski.
4. Summer Walker named ‘2023 ASCAP Women Behind The Music’ honoree
The ASCAP Rhythm & Soul department has announced Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter Summer Walker as one of the 2023 ASCAP Women Behind The Music award recipients. The ASCAP Rhythm & Soul department’s annual event “recognizes inspiring women in the music community, honoring songwriters, artists, and executives, including managers, attorneys, label executives, and music publishers.” The “White Tee” singer joins LVRN Executive Vice President, General Manager Amber Grimes, and Atlantic Records Senior Director of A&R Sammye Scott as this year’s top honorees. The 15th annual ceremony will take place on Nov. 16 in Atlanta.
5. Father of Luis Diaz released into the hands of the UN and the Catholic Church almost two weeks after kidnapping

After almost two weeks since his kidnapping by members of the National Liberation Army (ELN), Liverpool star Luis Diaz’s father has been released. Luis Manuel Diaz was released on Thursday and is currently in the hands of a humanitarian commission made up of the United Nations and the Catholic Church. The armed group handed over Luis Manuel Díaz to a humanitarian commission made up of the Ombudsman’s Office, the United Nations, the Catholic Church, and a delegation of the Red Cross.
Diaz senior was transported via helicopter and was reunited with his family, who are already celebrating his release in their hometown of La Guajira. The Episcopal Conference of Colombia posted an image of Luis Manuel after his release on social media.
