he back-to-back lineup that studded the calendar last week provided enough reasons for Black stars to amplify their slay mission. First, there were numerous movie premieres that made it impossible for celebs to show up in subpar takes. Then we saw a good number of stage performances that required the stars to match the tempo with upbeat makeup and hairstyles. Finally, there was the Tony Awards which smoked out the ladies in diverse beauty offerings. The result was a week filled with beauty looks hot enough to match summer’s blistering heat.

Lizzo went about Lizzo-ing last week because that’s what you do when you’re a megastar like her. The hitmaker brought the spunk with a trio graphic liner on her top and lower lids as well as on the “regular” liner spot. For some pump, the singer splattered shimmering eyeshadow on her lid and pink blush on her cheeks. Lizzo’s offering was by far the most upbeat celebrity makeup look spotted last week.
Elsewhere, Megan Thee Stallion brought the shimmer as she performed in Los Angeles in a sheer jumpsuit embellished with crystals. But it was her face beat that seized our attention. For the performance, the singer took the smokey eyes route featuring black and brown eyeshadow punctuated with silver eyeshadow. The result was the eye look played up her beautiful eyes, because why not? Finally, nude lipstick was used to tie the entire doll-up together. Brilliant! Meanwhile, Ashanti reminded us why a ponytail has been one of the dearly beloved hairstyles for women over the decades. Last week, she rocked a classic ponytail with laidback, sleek edges that emphasized her beautiful facial features. No doubt, the simplicity of the hairdo earned it a spot on this list. Furthermore, one of the celebrity makeup tips is to make sure the makeup and hairstyle compliment each other.
