our face is a priceless work of art. It occasionally serves as a reflection of your inner beauty and is the first thing people notice when they meet you. Hence the need to be cared for properly. Just like any other canvas, knowing what products you should never use on your face is crucial.

There are several schools of thought about how specific cosmetics and non-cosmetic products affect the skin, particularly the face. There are also countless myths surrounding skincare, especially routines that take all-natural routes. But if your face is of worth, it’s imperative to consider what you actually put on it. Simply put, never let the desperation for glowy skin surpass the need to give a critical eye to “solutions.”

Here are 10 things you should never put on your face…

#1. Body lotion

Although it isn’t usually the ideal option, body lotion isn’t always terrible for the face. But if you have sensitive skin, stay away from this option. Body lotion may contain substances inappropriate for the delicate skin on the face because they are typically thicker and heavier than facial moisturizers. Body lotions, for instance, may have scents, colors, or other substances that can irritate the skin or cause breakouts. It is preferable to get a face moisturizer.

#2. Toothpaste

Honestly, can we let toothpaste focus on the tooth it was designed for? Even though toothpaste is frequently used as a home cure for zits, it irritates the skin. Toothpaste has many components that are highly damaging to your skin. Contrary to popular opinion, your skin would freak out. Applying toothpaste to your face can cause burns, dryness, and redness.

#3. Hot water

A hot bath sounds tempting, but it might not be a good idea for your skin. You should never wash your face with hot water. Hot water dehydrates and irritates your skin by robbing it of its natural oils. Instead, use cold or lukewarm water to wash your face for better results.

#4. Coconut oil

In addition to being a superb product for skin glow, coconut oil is a well-liked natural treatment for several skin issues. But it’s not always good for your face due to its high comedogenic rate. If you have oily skin, coconut oil can clog your pores and cause acne.

#5. Bar soap

Refrain from touching your face with bar soap as it can remove the natural oils from your skin and is too harsh for your face. Use a face wash or gentle facial cleanser instead.

#6. Expired skincare products

Skincare could be pricey and hard to part with, but for your skin’s sake, place all expired products in the garbage. These skincare products might contain dangerous microorganisms that irritate your skin. Always look at the expiration date on your products and discard them if necessary. If there’s one thing you should never put on your face, this is it.

#7. Shampoo

There’s a chance that the “things” from your hair are the reason why you have breakouts around the edges of your face. The shampoo is not meant to clean your face; it is meant to clean your hair. Shampooing your face has negative effects. Be careful when washing your hair to keep it from getting on your face. If shampoo mistakenly touches your face, wash it off immediately.

#8. Mayonnaise

For starters, mayonnaise has a lot of oil. Oil can clog pores, which can eventually cause outbreaks of acne. Mayonnaise also includes eggs. Salmonella bacterium, which could cause food poisoning, can be found in eggs. Thirdly, mayonnaise has high acidity. This can irritate the skin and increase acne risk. Simply put, this is one of the things you shouldn’t put on your face if smooth and healthy skin is the goal.

#9. Baking soda

Baking soda contains too much alkaline for your skin and can disrupt your skin’s pH balance. It could also lead to breakouts. Do a patch test first if you’re thinking about applying baking soda to your face. Your inner arm’s skin can be treated with a small amount of baking soda, which you should leave on for 24 hours. Avoid using baking soda on your face if it causes irritation or redness after the patch test.

#10. Urine

Who would let urine touch their face? But it happens more commonly than you think. Urine consists of toxins and other substances that can damage the skin. Plus, it is acidic, and acidity aggravates the skin and increases breakout susceptibility. Lastly, the bacteria present in urine can also cause skin infections.
