The Nigerian Jollof Queen, Hilda Baci, on Monday morning, surpassed the Guinness World Record for the longest cook-a-thon (cooking marathon). Chef Lata Tondon set a record of 87 hours and 45 minutes in India in 2019; the Nigerian chef blew past that record at 7:46 a.m. on Monday, May 15, clocking 87 hours and 46 minutes. The chef, who targeted a 96 hours cooking marathon, surpassed it to reach 100 hours and 40 minutes showcasing her culinary skills using various local and intercontinental recipes to put Nigeria on the global culinary map.
Over the last four days, the 27-year-old made delicacies from Nigerian cuisines with over 110 meals. Hilda cooked nonstop from 4 p.m. on Thursday, 11 May till 4 p.m. on Monday to reach her record goal of 96 hours. To get to her new goal of 100 hours, she pushed further to end at 8:30 pm. The attempt also saw Hilda take an hour break in-between every 12 hours of cooking. The four-day cooking marathon, which began on Thursday at 4 p.m., featured celebrity visitations from Tiwa Savage, Banky and Adesua Wellington, Teni the entertainer, Spyro, Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu, and also networking, games, and brand activations. The Guinness World Record will have to verify all proofs before officially declaring her the new holder of the record.

The Weeknd announced he was ready to use a new moniker, and it seems the time has finally come. On Monday, May 15, the Canadian-born singer updated his social media accounts to Abel Tesfaye — his birth name. “I’m going through a cathartic path right now,” the crooner shared. “It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel. Maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn,” he revealed
He continued, “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.” In the meanwhile, his artistry continues to shine. “Filming for the movie featuring Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Jenna Ortega is officially complete. Yesterday was the last day of filming,” an account tweeted, receiving a repost from the 33-year-old. The currently untitled project is also co-written and produced by the singer. Hilda Baci Cookathon
3. South Africa: Pretty Yende cancels Vienna State Opera performance after being hospitalized
Just days after making history by being the first African singer to perform solo for the coronation of a British monarch, opera singer Pretty Yende has had to cancel her performances after being hospitalized. The South African-born soprano penned an apology to fans who were expecting her last performance of Manon at Wiener Staatsoper. Pretty explained on her Instagram she had sustained a serious injury.
“I’m so sorry to report I will not be able to perform my last performance of Manon @wienerstaatsoper due to sustaining a serious injury during my second performance on the stage before going to sing at the coronation. I was hoping my injury would subside, but unfortunately it’s not the case and I have to follow medical advice from my doctors and take care to heal as quickly as possible. I would like to send my sincerest apologies to my colleagues and the theatre, deepest thanks as they were incredibly kind to me during the last performances after my injury,” she wrote.
We wish her a speedy recovery.
4. Jamie and Corinne Foxx to host new family game show ‘We Are Family’
As we continue to pray for Jamie Foxx after his health scare, we can celebrate the actor’s new gig with his daughter Corinne Foxx as they are set to host a new game show on Fox called “We Are Family.” Fox announced the new series on Monday, with Corinne sharing the news on her social media. “WE ARE FAMILY coming 2024!🎶👨👧🪩 The Foxx Family is headed back to our home on @foxtv & we can’t wait for this new show! 🦊📺,” the actor’s daughter captioned. “We are thrilled to be developing We Are Family with Jeff Apploff and our friends at FOX Entertainment after so much success with six seasons of Beat Shazam,” the father-daughter duo said in a joint statement. “We hope this show brings as much fun to audiences at home as we’ve had creating it when it premieres next year.”
The competition show is “a music guessing game that will feature one celebrity every episode alongside a non-famous relative. But there’s a twist: the featured star will be hidden until their identity can be guessed.” Clues will be shared to help identify each celeb and for every correctly guessed star, there’s a cash prize of up to $100,000 for the studio audience who will work to guess the celeb based on the clues provided.

A forgettable 2022-23 campaign for Paul Pogba appears to have been brought to a close, with Juventus delivering another injury update. The France international midfielder returned to Turin as a free agent last summer after reaching the end of his contract at Manchester United. A fresh start was supposed to rekindle a lost spark in the enigmatic 30-year-old, but he has spent much of his first year back in Italy stuck on the treatment table. Having picked up a knee problem that required surgery shortly after linking up with Juve for the second time, Pogba suffered a muscle problem when making his first start for the club against Cremonese on May 14. After sending Pogba for scans on his latest ailment, Juve have said in a statement on the club’s official website: “The diagnostic tests that Paul Pogba underwent this morning at J|Medical showed a low-grade lesion of the rectus femoris of the left thigh. The footballer has already started his rehabilitation programme.” Pogba’s start against Cremonese was his first for club or country in 390 days, but he lasted just 23 minutes before being forced from the field – with Bianconeri boss Massimiliano Allegri admitting afterward that “risks” had been taken on his fitness.
