T
he mood last week was light and airy in the fantastic universe of celebs. And in a bid to match that vibe (and the season), a good number of the stars favored party-appropriate pieces with a whimsical flair. Of course, there were those who looked to muted get-ups, while others, like Taraji P. Henson, preferred to play the edgy card. From the Fear of God fashion show to the Peter Pan & Wendy world premiere in London, these black celebs made slaying a mission. In all, there was much to see with the choice of offerings last week — a sweet reminder that this spring, celebrities aren’t treading familiar grounds in the fashion department.
The Looks
Last week, Kelly Rowland was all shades of chocolate in a dapper Fear of God suit. The star rocked this structured fit to the brand’s latest show and that’s one top-tier look for the brown goddess. As Ms. Rowland kept to the monochrome side of things, Cynthia Addai-Robinson maintained the momentum. The actress graced the carpet at the Citadel movie premiere in an all-black ensemble. The black midi dress with an interesting cut-out and black patent leather shoes was a chic move that set Addai-Robinson apart from the bunch. Certainly, a glaring proof that this spring, celebrities have aced the fashion game undisturbed.
And when it came to making a statement, Anok Yai gave many a run for their money. The model pulled out all the stops in a white crop top, a matching midi skirt, and pumps. She then donned a white asymmetric shawl for good measure. Meanwhile, because all black will never go out of style, Taraji P. Henson took that energy to the Fear of God show clad in a full black look from the brand. From face beat to the matching leather boots, Henson gathered this offering like a pro.
