On Monday, February 27, Burna Boy took to Instagram to state the reasons behind his silence amidst the 2023 presidential election after he was called out for his silence. The Grammy winner stated that he was surprised that people were making a big deal over his silence regarding the election given that he has never been in support of any candidate. According to Burna Boy, he has never believed in any candidate, so he doesn’t want to influence the electorate, which will blame him after such a candidate inevitably messes up.

He also shared that while he won’t be involved in the process because he doesn’t believe in it, he hopes the votes count and the best man wins. “I dunno why it’s such a big deal to some Nigerians that I’ve not been vocal about the elections. Personally, I don’t have a candidate that I believe in. I’ve never supported any political party or candidate in my life because I don’t want to make you vote and then blame me when the person fucks up, as usual, That being said, I hope all votes count and the best man wins.”

Multi-award-winning actress Jessica Nkosi has just let her fans in on a secret she’s been keeping for a while. The actress, who is well-known for her roles in TV shows like “Isibaya”, “Ayeye,” “The Queen” and “Lavish,” showed off her growing baby bump in a series of pictures on Instagram. She captioned the post: “God has been so so good!!! We are growing.❤” This is the star’s second child. She has a daughter, Namisa Dlamini, with media personality Ntokozo “TK” Dlamini.

Congratulations to the actress on her growing family.

4. Basketball World Cup: Cape Verde become the smallest nation to qualify for the tournament

Cape Verde has made history by becoming the smallest country ever to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. With a population of just over 500,000, the Atlantic island nation beat the record previously held by Montenegro, who qualified in 2019. An impressive 79-64 victory over Ivory Coast sealed the Blue Sharks’ spot at the tournament, which will be co-hosted by Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines from August 25 to September 10 and will see five African teams compete.

On Friday, South Sudan also made history, qualifying at the first attempt just three years after the team took part in their debut international competition. Angola and Egypt booked their places at the World Cup in qualifiers held in Cairo, while Ivory Coast were the first African nation to qualify back in August.

5. Erling Haaland set to sign £20m boot deal with Nike after rejecting Puma and Adidas interest

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is reportedly set to sign a lucrative boot deal with Nike after snubbing advances from Adidas and Puma. The prolific Norway international has registered 33 goals through 25 matches for City this season, with an immediate return being delivered on the £51 million ($61m) transfer fee invested in his talent. The 22-year-old has been starring on the Premier League stage, but he has no boot endorsement at present.

A previous agreement with Nike came to a close in January 2022, allowing Haaland to be pictured donning footwear from rival sportswear manufacturers Adidas and Puma. Haaland had boasted ties to Nike since he was 14 years old, while Adidas Chief Executive Bjorn Gulden is a close family friend. Reports say that three giants of the sponsorship industry have put forward proposals to Haaland, with a decision on his next deal now close. It is suggested that the City superstar will side with Nike, having offered a nod towards renewing that relationship in his recent choice of matchday boots. Keke Palmer Child
