January, with regards to music, was off to a slow start but quickly progressed as Afrobeats artistes picked momentum midway with the release of several dope tracks. This week is no different, as the array of music released is bound to have listeners on their feet. Leading the pack is Mr. Eazi who made a play on the popular Nigerian pop culture statement “the pressure is getting werser,” on his new song, Werser.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s favorite collaborators, Phyno and Olamide came back with a new song titled Ojemba. When those two hop on a track together, it’s always a banger! From Mr. Eazi to L.A.X, this week’s Afrobeats offerings are as impressive as ever. Consequently, we’ve curated the top five trending tunes for your listening pleasure.

Check out the top 5 trending new Afrobeats songs released this week…

#1. Mr. Eazi – Werser

The pressure is actually getting werser just as Mr. Eazi consistently chanted on this new piece. The African superstar kickstarts the year on the dancefloor with a brand new single titled Werser. This time, Mr. Eazi employs the expertise of Mozambican record producer, DJ Tarico who created the bouncy instrumental of the track. Weser is Mr. Eazi’s first installment for 2023, an opener to what seems to be a promising year for the superstar. The song serves as a pathway to his forthcoming project, currently in the works.

#2. Phyno ft. Olamide – Ojemba

Since the beginning of the last decade, the collaboration between this duo—Phyno and Olamide—has never been a disappointment. From Ghost Mode to Dope Money, the Mastekraft-produced Fada Fada, and other remarkable collaborations, it’s been an extremely smooth ride for both rappers. Phyno and Olamide, the duo that has separately built musical empires on their various ends under the names of YBNL and Penthauze, join forces one more time for this essential number titled Ojemba. The track, which is led by Phyno, serves as the rapper’s first installment for the year. Ojemba is produced by talented beatmaker Xtofa.

#3. Pheelz – Stand By You

Pheelz’s transition from a record producer to a singer-songwriter and record producer has been a successful one so far. Ever since he took the career-switching leap, he has recorded enormous successful bagging hit records like Finesse with BNXN (fka Buju), and Electricity with African royalty, Davido. Again, Pheelz is on the move as he comes through with a new single titled Stand By You. The self-produced track serves as the singer’s first installment for 2023 and a pathway to his forthcoming EP Pheelz Good, scheduled for February 10.

#4. Boy Spyce – Folake

Mavin Records singer-songwriter Boy Spyce has released his highly anticipated single, titled Folake. The name “Folake” is definitely not new in Nigerian songs. Many artists have either eulogized or complained about her, and in this particular case, it’s the latter. “Folake don pompous, she don dey drive Brabus, so she no dey talk to us again, she no dey come campus again,” Boy Spyce sings in regret about how Folake ‐ a used‐to‐be lover became a villain in his story. Produced by rising beatmaker, Sparrq, Folake serves as Boy Spyce’s first official single for 2023, an opener to what obviously looks like a promising year for the gifted lad.

#5. L.A.X – Rora

Rasaki Music frontier L.A.X is on the move again in 2023 as he delivers a brand new single dubbed Rora. The singer-songwriter opens his new year’s account on a jolly note. Produced by rising beatsmith, Shyne, Rora serves as L.A.X’s first official single for the year. It comes after the release of the Sempe remix with R3HAB back in October 2022.
