Burna Boy Begs Not To Be Left ‘Alone’ + More New Trending Afrobeat Songs

This week has been a sad one for Afrobeat, as one of its pillars, Davido lost his three-year-old son earlier in the week. Owing to this, many afrobeat artists postponed the release of the songs they intended to drop this week as a sign of respect. However, a few songs still debuted and have kept afrobeat listeners across the globe engaged. With the release of the film a week away, the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack album has dropped, and it features a number of Nigerian artists who delivered dope songs. One of them is the African Giant, Burna Boy who brought his signature heat to a song titled Alone.

Meanwhile, after a long hiatus and several pleas from fans, Runtown makes a return to the music industry with Things I know. On this song, the artist slides through a wonderful mid-tempo production as he delivers a great comeback tune. With just a few releases this week, listeners have a few rave-worthy songs to obsess over. Accordingly, we’ve compiled the top five trending new hits to kick-start your weekend groove.

Check out the top 5 trending new Afrobeat songs released this week…

#1. Burna Boy – Alone

Just ahead of the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the Marvel team has released the soundtrack album. On it is the Burna Boy song, Alone. In this song, the Grammy winner bares it all as he sings about being tired and weak because he never wants to be left alone. The vibe of this track plays into the theme of the upcoming movie.

#2. Runtown – Things I Know

After taking a year off from the music scene, Runtown returns with a new single titled Things I Know. In this song, the talented singer showcases his pleasant, floating lyrics, for which he is mostly known. Things I Know is the lead single from his forthcoming sophomore album, Signs, due out soon.

#3. Fireboy DML – Coming Back For You

While the soundtrack album for the first Black Panther movie featured no African artists, the album for the second movie seems to feature mostly Afrobeats artists. This is due to afrobeat going mainstream. Another artist who features on the album is Fireboy DML with the song Coming Back For You. This track sees the singer say a prayer out to the universe and assures somebody, perhaps listeners, that they’re never alone while tying in some Yoruba elements into it.

#4. KCee Ft. Iyanya – Go

The immensely talented singer KCee makes a return to the music scene with a new song titled Go. On this song, he tapped into the musical dexterity of Iyanya, a prominent Nigerian singer and songwriter, and his longtime collaborator. Just like every other KCee song, this one is groovy and has the ability to compel listeners to dance.

#5. CKay And PinkPantheress – Anya Mmiri

For the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack album, Nigerian afro-emo singer, CKay got paired with British-Zimbabwean singer PinkPantheress to deliver a smashing song titled Anya Mmiri. The two talented acts delivered a dreamscape-like sound that makes listeners hungry for more.
