Last Week, The Best Beauty Looks Were Heavy On Details

lthough we had some major events last week, the calendar wasn’t as fully-booked as it tends to be. While this could have easily become a bummer for some, Black girls decided that a few events weren’t a good reason to aim for boring. Consequently, they showed up in maximum-power mode with makeup and hairstyles that made every appearance, few as they may have been, totally worth the occasion.
The Looks
Makeup
At the Black Panther 2 premiere last week, Angela Bassett shimmered in shades of purple created by celebrity makeup artist, D’Andre Michael. Purple was the shade of preference for her face beat as it matched the star’s shimmering dress she wore for the night. The majestic look featured purple lids, lips, and an almost similar-toned blush created with products from Pat McGrath Labs (perhaps, a nod to the Black culture). The regal hue flattered Bassett’s skin tone, giving a well-polished vibe.
Elsewhere, Karrueche glowed in a well-defined face beat that put her eyes on focus. The look made a case for a well-framed face thanks to a brilliant contour job and was further enlivened with a sea-green shadow. For lips, the actress opted for a nude gloss which gave room for her bold eyes to pop without competition. Created by celeb makeup artist Stephen Moleski for Karrueche’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiere appearance, the makeup played up the star’s facial features and left no room for mundanity.
Hair
When Janet Jackson showed up at the Forever Valentino exhibition in Qatar last week, she did so embodying an unmatched African royalty vibe. The hairstyle was created by Ricky Fraser and boasts a sleek braided base with a high-top puff. Edgy, glamorous, and royal.
