In the week closing up February, Black men across the globe kept it real yet refined—looking in luxe and luxury-adjacent choices that glued all attention on them. Whether they chose vibrant layered pieces like Lil Wayne or a fluid take on monochrome like Davido, the effort was to wear and go while effortlessly dazzling in the process and boy, did they accomplish that!
The Looks
Cosplaying has always been an element of fashion. However, some incorporate it into their looks unknowingly. This was the case of Golden Gate Warriors player, Stephen Curry as he dressed looking like he stepped out of the Matrix. He took to the streets in a Romeo Hunte Blackout trench coat which he wore over a Romeo Hunte RH Six Block crewneck and Romeo Hunte denim jersey pants. For shoes, the player opted for a pair of Bottega Veneta nylon hiking boots. Comfy yet fashionable, the look was in line with the style Curry has been gravitating towards.
Meanwhile, South African fashion designer, Rich Mnisi breezed through the week in some pieces from the collaboration between his eponymous brand and global fashion brand, Adidas. He chose to coordinate instead of matching in a three-piece ensemble featuring a body fitting turtleneck top, a pair of shorts, and a bomber jacket — all with the same African-inspired prints. Rich kept the look anything but subtle in a pair of white Prada combat boots and added a sizzle with a brown crossbody bag from the same collection with similar prints.
Last week, Black men didn’t limit the expensive looks to special occasions. They exhibited some of the exhilarating and eccentric looks that fashion has to offer as they set new standards for men around the world.
