What does power dressing look like in 2021? For the most stylish Black men, it’s taking trends from different eras–including brash colors, masculine edge, and sharp, tailored silhouettes— and translating them into modern looks.
The looks
American rapper Big Sean made the case for tailored fits and sharp silhouettes as he hit the streets in custom-made Zegna ensemble. Big Sean opted for an impressive ensemble comprising of a two-piece black and grey diagonally stripped suit which he wore over a classic white shirt and complemented with a tan trench coat. His spin on office staple was definitely hard to miss. Would it be a best-dressed round-up without a little sparkle? He accessorized with a brooch and ring embellished with precious stones.
Bold outfits were on trend last week with fashion designing guru Adebayo Oke-Lawal sporting a two-piece outfit from Nigerian fashion brand David Black. This look gave a different take on the rich-detail sleeves trend that has been in the fashion space for a while. Adhering to the vibrant color theme, he complemented the outfit with a pair of blush pink leather boots. Oke-Lawal was the picture of a party-ready ensemble while showing off another side of his persona.
At parties, on the street, and at events, the only way to stand out was to go against the grain. This is something the most stylish Black men had in mind as they championed eccentricity in all its forms to fascinating effect last week.
