DIY: How To Make Homemade Lip Balm With Only Vaseline And Lipstick

A fashion and culture enthusiast who's really a food loving…
If your lips are prone to cracks at every given point in time, then you will appreciate the effectiveness of lip balms. However, when you have to change bags often, you end up misplacing your lip balms every now and then. For that reason, one simply cannot afford to buy lip balms every other week, so here is a DIY to the rescue!
With summer now gone and we dive into the drier seasons, having a lip balm handy at all times is a necessity. What’s even more important is knowing how to quickly whip up yours in no time. This not only saves you time (of the endless search for missing lip balms) but also saves you money. Lip balms made from petroleum jelly-based products are an economical way to moisturize, soothe, and soften your lips. Are you ready for a quick DIY? Let’s begin…
Check out how to make your own lip balm fast and easy…

What you’ll need
- Vaseline
- Juice extracts (optional)
- Lipstick
- Glass jar
How to:
Step 1

Put your Vaseline in a microwave bowl (any bowl that can stand the heat). Be sure to include as much or as little as you choose.
Step 2

Heat up the Vaseline in the microwave at 30 seconds intervals until it melts. If you don’t have a microwave, no need to fuss as you can put it over a bowl of really hot water. This should work just as well.
Step 3

Time for some color. Tint the petroleum jelly by cutting a small piece of your favorite lipstick, stirring thoroughly. That is until everything is well incorporated. Afterward, heat up once again for a smooth mix.
Step 4 (optional)

On to some flavor! Mix in a little juice or extract into your now-tinted balm. This all depends on how intense you want the flavor to be. There’s no wrong way to do this. However, ensure you don’t put in so much your balm turns liquid.
Step 5

Pour your mix into your jar and refrigerate, if need be. This is to enable the mixture to solidify some more. Finally, use as liberally as needed.
Voila! Your homemade lip balm is ready. Make as many as you want. You might even make an extra buck or two by selling these to your friends.

PS: You can add coconut oil to your mixture as it is a great moisturizer and has SPF4 for protection against sun damage.
