1. Kamala Harris makes history
Kamala Harris has become Vice-President-elect of the US. This is the first time in history that a woman, and a woman of color, has been elected to such a position in the United States of America. Joe Biden won the presidency by clinching Pennsylvania and its 20 electoral votes on Saturday morning, after days of painstaking vote counting following record turnout across the country. The win in Pennsylvania took Biden’s electoral college vote to 284, surpassing the 270 needed to win the White House.
Kamala Harris, a California senator who is of Indian and Jamaican heritage, will also make history as the first woman of mixed race to serve as Vice-President after her inauguration. If she became president she would be the first female president, and the second biracial president in American history, after Barack Obama.
2. Nigeria: Police to investigate actress Rahama Sadau over a backless dress

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Umar Muri, has been given an order to probe popular Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau following the backless dress she wore in contrast to set Islamic rules. This comes after the actress sparked online outrage after sharing a photo of herself in a revealing dress on Monday, November 2 which was tagged as “indecent” by the Arewa community and northern religious members.
Although Ms. Sadau later apologized and deleted the photo following the severe backlash, she got banned by the northern filmmakers. A letter signed by the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa, confirmed that the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, gave the order for an investigation into the matter following a petition written to him by one Mallam Lawal Gusau.
3. Kenya: Elsa Majimbo wins African social star at the E! People’s choice awards

19-year-old Kenyan comedian and internet sensation Elsa Majimbo has been voted by the public as African Social Star of 2020 at this year’s E! People’s Choice Awards. Vlogger Dimma Umeh from Nigeria and Miss Universe Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa placed second and third respectively.
Between 1 October and 23 October, E! engaged fans worldwide to vote in over 40 categories across TV, music, movies, and pop culture. For the second time in the history of the ceremony, the E! People’s Choice Awards opened a category dedicated to Africa.
4. Ghana: Incentives for COVID-19 health workers extended to end of year
The government has extended the incentive packages for health workers which were introduced in April in the wake of the Coronavirus disease. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his 19th address to the nation on measures taken to combat the disease said the incentive package had been extended to the end of 2020. “This means that health workers will pay no income tax for the month of October, November, and December,” the President said.
He added that all frontline health workers as defined by the Ministry of Health would continue to receive an additional allowance of 50 percent of basic salary per month for the months of October, November, and December.
5. Barcelona legend Eto’o involved in road accident in Cameroon

Former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto’o is in stable condition after he was involved in a road accident around Nkongsamba-Douala road in Cameroon. Eto’o was said to be returning from a wedding celebration when his car was hit by a public transport bus on Sunday morning.
Although the car was badly damaged in the front, the 39-year-old was immediately moved to a hospital where he is doing well under the doctors’ watch. It was reported that the Barcelona legend suffered a head injury but no life was lost in the crash.
