Tiwa Savage has replied Beyoncé’s Mother, Tina Lawson, after calling on the singer to lend for the #EndSARS protests and killings. In a lengthy post via her Instagram page, Tina Lawson reacted to Tiwa Savage’s video slamming her for calling on her daughter to lend a voice to ongoing killings and protests in the country. Reacting to the post, Tiwa simply wrote “we all have mothers o.”

Recall that Tiwa Savage called on international celebrities which included Beyoncé to support the EndSars Protest in Nigeria. “I’m calling on Beyonce and her team, the same way they used their platform… to elevate and to show the world that Black is King and how beautiful Afrobeat and Africa our culture is. I want them to please use their voice and their platform right because the same country that birth this genre (Afrobeat) is on fire right now,” Tiwa Savage stated.

“You cannot ignore this,” Savage added after days of protests in Nigeria without a word from Beyonce.

2. George Floyd: Judge dismisses third-degree murder charge against Derek Chauvin

The officer who killed George Floyd by kneeling on his neck on camera is facing one less charge. According to reports, a judge dropped a third-degree murder charge against former officer Derek Chauvin. He is still facing the more serious charges of second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

All the men involved in the murder are now out on bail. Chauvin is reportedly allowed to leave the state of Minnesota due to “safety concerns.” The trial for all four men is currently scheduled for March 2021. It’s not yet determined if all four will be tried together, or separately.

Rapper Cassper Nyovest has taken aim at African leaders for failing their people, saying that it seems they don’t care about the lives of Black people. The phrase “Africa is bleeding,” has been making headlines and making it to the top of the trends lists on social media this week.

The hitmaker took to Twitter to lend his voice to the brutality that African people have faced in recent weeks. The star, who is not afraid to speak his mind on social issues, pleaded with his followers to raise awareness about the police brutality against protesters fighting to #EndSARS in Nigeria.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has taken delivery of 15 drones to provide effective monitoring and auditing of the company’s networks to ensure more efficient services to clients in line with modern trends.

The deployment of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the company’s operations is meant to curb the vegetation interference in the network, as well as identify weak spots on the networks for prompt rectification. Consequently, engineers of the company are currently undergoing training at the company’s training school in Tema to be able to operate the drones.

Ogu played against England at Wembley in 2018 but was an unused sub in all Nigeria’s matches at the World Cup that year

Nigeria midfielder John Ogu has called on his team to boycott upcoming matches in protest at the country’s government. Ogu said a boycott would “make a statement.” On Tuesday Manchester United forward Odion Ighalo called his country’s government “a shame to the world.” There have been weeks of protests in Nigeria with mostly young people demanding the disbandment of a notorious police unit, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Nigeria has Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in November and Ogu said that even if the country lost its place in the tournament “it would be a price worth paying. What is the point in representing the country if this is what the politicians, the people we’re representing, can do to us?” Ogu, 32, said.
