1. Adele announces exciting comeback
Adele has delighted her fans by confirming she will be hosting Saturday Night Live next week. Taking to her Instagram page on Sunday, the 32-year-old singer shared a picture of colorful post-it notes revealing H.E.R will be the musical guest. This Saturday Night Live appearance will be Adele’s first major outing in four years following her 2016 tour. The British star is also yet to release any new music since the release of her album titled 25 in 2015.
Announcing the news, she wrote: “Bloooooody hellllll I’m so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first-ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!” After the exciting news was announced, fans were quick to speculate whether Adele will be releasing new music.
2. Nigeria: Nigerian Police Force release names of dismissed officers

The names of the 37 officers were penciled down for dismissal following Nigerian youths’ protests against the activities of the recently-disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force. The youth have also been calling on the federal government to reform the force.
In a series of tweets on Saturday, October 17, 2020, Ayo Akanji, a member of President Muhammadu Buhari’s media team released the names and service numbers of the dismissed officers on Twitter. Popular police officers, Abayomi Shogunle and Dolapo Badmus are on the list of officers punished for misconduct. In another tweet, Akanji said the police administrative action includes dismissal, reprimand, and demotion.
3. Africa: Customs duties in Africa to reduce next year

Customs duties on trading within Africa will be reduced from next year onwards when the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement comes into force on January 1, 2021. The Secretary-General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, Mr. Wamkele Mene, who announced this in Accra last Thursday, said unnecessary barriers to trade would also be reduced and eventually removed after the agreement had taken effect.
The secretary-general, who was interacting with the media in Accra, added that all was set for the agreement to take off next year, bringing with it new opportunities and a new chapter in intra-African trade.
4. South Africa: Nandi Madida sets the record straight on her Lux drama

Musician Nandi Madida has set the record straight after being met with confusion following news of a court battle to recover money owed to her. It was reported that Nandi was suing Amaru Da Costa who they referred to as her manager at the time she was an ambassador for Lux. According to the media, the star is trying to recover R3.7 million.
Following the news, Nandi took to social media to clear up any misunderstandings and confirm that a summons was sent to Amaru. Nandi confirmed that he was not her manager but an agent working for the Lux campaign at the time. She went on to say that although she could not divulge more information, Unilever has communicated that all money was paid to Amaru.
5. Jordan Ayew: Crystal Palace forward tests positive for coronavirus
Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew has tested positive for coronavirus, manager Roy Hodgson has confirmed. The 29-year-old returned a positive test on Friday, having spent the international break with the Ghana team, and missed Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Brighton.
Government guidelines state that he must self-isolate for 10 days and test negative before he can return to training. “I don’t know [when we’ll have him back],” said Hodgson. “We have to follow the relative government and Premier League guidelines before we see him again.”
Ayew’s compatriot Bernard Mensah has also tested positive for coronavirus after returning to his club side Besiktas following international duty.
