Cynthia, a full custodian of joy, during this pandemic took it upon herself to purposefully spread joy with her instagram page where she shared short clips of herself singing. She said, “Wouldn’t it be nice if I could use this platform to spark joy? If anything, that’s my job.”

#2. She’s an activist for Women of Color

As a passionate activist, the Tony, Golden Globe, and Grammy Award-winning performer has dedicated her time co-leading at DRK Beauty, a GoFundMe created to support free therapy for women of color. “[Black women] aren’t always given the opportunity to take a minute to discuss how we’re feeling, to process our feelings, and to get other people’s help to do that,” she says.

#3. She describes her style as androgynous

While she loves high fashion and glamour, she is also very comfortable with keeping things street style fierce. A non-conformer, as a testament to her fierceness, she colors her hair with bold colors as is evident with the blonde she currently has on and also flaunts multiple piercings.

“I guess you can call it androgyny,” she says. She can be anything she wants to and that’s her power.
