Tom Ford shocked many when he revealed that he wouldn’t be presenting his Autumn/Winter 2020 at the ongoing NYFW Fall 2020 and would instead be taking his show to Los Angeles during NYFW season. The move was even more disappointing considering that Tom chairs the CFDA organising body.
The designer would later cite the Academy Awards, which will be televised tomorrow, and “the excitement in L.A. on that particular weekend” as a factor in his decision.

The Tom Ford AW20 show, which took place yesterday, Friday 7, at the Milk Studios in Los Angeles, California, had a celebrity-filled front row. It was the place to be in Los Angeles, Friday evening. From Jennifer Lopez to Kylie Jenner, the stars came out looking dashing as they nodded to the looks that sashayed down the runway.

For his AW20 collection, Tom Ford stuck to solid-coloured luxe prints with cameo appearances from florals and animal prints. The collection was reminiscent of the free-spirited, casual looks of the late 1960s and early 1970s while giving a nod to the hit film, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
The collection also featured haute denim designs with Tom placing an emphasis on denim “worn as fashion pieces and not just as ‘jeans’.” The key cut was a flared shape crafted in patchwork that proved to be one of the big takeaways alongside midi skirts made from distressed fabric that had been cut apart and put back together. Not leaving out matching denim ’80s purses with gold chain straps.
Amongst the models was Bella Hadid who debuted an ultra-sexy gown from Tom Ford’s AW20 collection. The totally sheer and sparkly gown pretty much shut down the show. Sheer seemed to be the order of the runway as Kendall Jenner donned a transparent lace gown while Gigi Hadid looked simply stunning in a slinky, see-through gown, which left nothing to the imagination.
On the print side of the collection, Nigeria’s Mayowa Nicholas strutted the runway in an Adire print hooded oversized kaftan top which was paired with sweatpants-inspired trousers.
