When we think of maximalist and high-end fashion brands, Moschino is one of the brands that come to mind. The luxury designer brand has always served us the wildest and most unimaginable looks, creating both recognizable and iconic collections throughout the years.
The Moschino Pre-Fall 2020 runway show, which took place at New York’s Transit Museum, set amongst vintage subway cars, was no exception to the designer’s maximalist nature, and we are once again in awe of the latest collection. Studying the details in the pieces presented in the collection by Jeremy Scott in the Moschino pre-fall 2020 show, one could guess his inspiration stemmed from New York City. Still, it’s impossible to determine how Jeremy Scott delivered the exceptional mastery of maximalism with the given theme.
The Moschino pre-fall 2020 collection hit all the specifics of the Big Apple life, detailing areas from the Bronx to Williamsburg, from the Upper East Side to the East Village. The ruling motifs of Moschino’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection, in summary, were gold jewellery layered heavily, cosy sweaters, moneyed details like fur stoles and gold watches, platform utility boots with laces running up to the thigh, colourful tweeds, sleek trench coats, wildly patterned silk scarf fabrics, denim overalls and bustiers, slinky tracksuits, leather, safety pins and ripped-up suiting.
Jeremy Scott also blew things out of proportion; we’re talking oversized knit turtlenecks, patchwork bomber jackets, baseball caps, gold chains, hoodies, bags, etc. To capture the dynamic city that is New York, looks were styled with versatility – the baby pink, logo scarf print was offered up on cool puffers or worn as a headscarf. Jeremy Scott delivered plenty of attitude and hyper-realism via macro and a few micro details.
