Hey lash lovers! Do you really put up with all that glue because you consider leaving the house without your lashes on fleek a sin? What if we told you that you could ditch all the high-maintenance drama of lash extensions and pull out of bed with your lashes popping. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, this is where we introduce the lash lift trend.

Lash lifts are here for the carefree lass who still wants her eyes to pop even after going deep diving. Lash lifts promise the look of mascara but on 3D—without smudging or smearing.

Let us introduce you to lash lifts to up your eyelash game…

So what is a lash lift?

We’re all familiar with hair perms. Well, lash lifts are like a perm to your natural lashes. It’s the new beauty trend on the block. Okay, maybe not so new as it’s been around since last year and even earlier in some quarters – coming on to the beauty scene as early as sometime after the dawn of the new millennium.

The result of the perm process lifts and curls your lashes long term – giving you the “I woke up like this” look. This trumps applying mascara any day, anytime. It also lasts longer than lash extensions and is low maintenance. And if you’re someone who does full makeup on a regular, this helps reduce the time you spend getting your face beat drastically. Ladies, I hear your partners screaming for joy. You two will finally get to that event early enough. Whew!!!

What’s the process like?

First of all, be sure to get your lash lift done by a professional in a hygienic setting. The lash lift process begins with a consultation: This will help to determine what type of lash style would suit you. Then the suitable curling rod size would also be chosen depending on your lash choice.

After the first step is sorted out, the main process begins. The eye area is cleaned with cotton pads to take off any residue makeup.

Silicon rods are placed on the eyelids to protect the skin around that area.

The natural lashes are then curled over and set on the silicon rod with the aid of an adhesive.

A lifting lotion is applied to allow the lashes to mould around the curling rod and a setting lotion is applied to harden your lashes back up so the shape is locked in.

The result is instantly giving your lashes an exaggerated lift and extra definition.

P.S: While choosing the perming solution, look out for nourishing ingredients like aloe, glycerin or keratin solutions that strengthen and hydrate the lashes.

Is getting a lash lift painful?

When done right, lash lifts are so painless that the only worry should be the fear of dozing off during the procedure because your eyes would be shut the whole time. The lash artist will need to position two silicon pads on top of your lower lash line to keep your lower lashes from curling upwards and that’s the only thing that might seem uncomfortable but for a few seconds.

How to properly maintain a lash lift

A good lash lift should last for about six to eight weeks but you should know that longevity depends on proper maintenance.

After the procedure, leave the lash untouched by water and makeup for at least 24 hours to ensure the lashes set properly. Mascara should stay far away for 48 hours as you don’t want anything ruining this “natural” slay. Use lash oil to keep the lashes conditioned after the lashes are set in place.

How much does a lash lift cost?

Lash lifts cost $60 – $100 per session and depends on where you go for the service. Lash lifts are relatively more affordable than lash extensions.

Lash lifts vs lash extensions

Volume: Lash extensions add that extra body to your lashes as well as more length, so lash extensions are typically more dramatic. Lash lifts won’t give you that full look unless you already have plenty of lashes.

Maintenance: If you’re not ready to treat your lashes like a precious stone then maybe lash extensions are not for you. While you need to brush lash extensions daily and avoid water like your lashes are made of salt, lash lifts offer you the liberty to run under the shower at any time without fear of doing your lashes more harm.

Getting a tint on top of the lash lift could help accentuate your lashes, even more, making them shinier. This might cost you some sleep discomfort as you can’t sleep on your face, especially within the first 24 hours but I’m sure that’s not the hardest beauty regulation you’ve had to keep. Lashes might start to get droopy as the procedure’s estimated endpoint approaches but you can top them up with mascara to keep them looking voluminous.

Who would have thought getting those lashes permed and tinted could basically be all you needed to reveal your inner barbie? Bat those lashes princess, you’re finally on top of your lash game.
