Beauty has been having major moments this year and the just concluded Heineken Lagos Fashion Week was not excluded. From the runway at fashion weeks all over the world to TV shows like HBO’s Euphoria, we’ve seen beauty looks play out this year in freshly creative ways, which only means there’s a lot to replicate and experiment with.
Of course there’s no better time to pick up the beauty conversation than after Lagos Fashion Week 2019. With the shows at a full stop and all other bases – from runway designs to street style – covered, and we’re turning the spotlight on the beauty trends that ruled and more Instagram-worthy backstage moments.
Every year, the best in Nigerian and African fashion and beauty get together and put on a show of the latest fashion designs, trends and beauty looks. Lagos Fashion Week 2019, which came to a close this past Saturday, saw a myriad of interesting beauty looks. Amongst the array of looks worn by models were explosions of glitter, face painting, and statement headgears, all created by the very talented makeup artists and stylists who worked tirelessly to help designers bring their collections to life. Then there was the field of ponytails as hairstylists also worked their magic on the models.
From dewy skin and graphic eyeliners to vintage-inspired eyewear, if you’re looking for the beauty trends that will make waves in 2020, now is the time to take a cue from the backstage moments from Lagos Fashion Week. While there’s some element of unwearable art involved, mastering the beauty looks spotted during fashion week puts you a whole season ahead of the beauty game.
