Other designers took to various indoor venues to showcase their SS20 collections at the just concluded Paris Fashion Week Men’s. However, Simon Porte Jacquemus who wanted something very poetic took to a pink picturesque runway in a lavender field in Valensole, Provence to showcase the Jacquemus SS20 collection named Le Coup de Soleil.
Le Coup de Soleil is the French phrase for ‘sunburn’ which is perfect for a summer collection. For the first time, the brand delved into menswear and womenswear at the same time. The collection was a show stopper that featured pastels, oversized blazers, dyed pieces and a Swarovski collaboration on show in honour of Jacquemus’ 10th anniversary.
The collection also featured accessories which came in the form of mismatched earrings, a necklace-sized version of Jacquemus’ signature Chiquito bag, crystal-embellished women’s heels, woven corn accessories hanging off belts, biscuit tin shaped bags, sunglasses and massive summer-perfect straw hats.
Jacquemus also played with proportions, textures and hues as light delicate dresses were paired with extremely tiny bags, lycra paired with luxurious silk and colours playing against each other. Whether it was the bold runway, the pieces from the collection or the elegant crystals by Swarovski, we can all agree that the Jacquemus’ 10th-anniversary collection was certainly a showstopper, an Instagram-worthy one and we’ve got our favourites.
