On Thursday afternoon which marked the third day of Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020, Virgil Abloh presented his LV SS20 collection for Louis Vuitton men’s at the French capital’s Place Dauphine.
Virgil Abloh, who is the men’s artistic director of Louis Vuitton created a gorgeous collection inspired by the habitual and the natural by including flowers and the wonders of nature in his designs. For one thing, the collection definitely put an even balance between streetwear and luxury fashion.
In his show notes for his third menswear collection for the brand, Virgil declared: “Youth is global. We are all one. We are the world.” The collection’s notes also referred to the stages of boyhood and how young men interact with clothing before they’re influenced by society’s gender conventions. With this, he introduced LV skirts for men and went further by creating them in floral prints.
First things first, the accessories and details. Bags were everywhere, strapped seemingly every place they could fit across several models’ chests. This may have been a menswear collection, but I see a lot of bags I would love in my wardrobe and I am sure we will be seeing some of these with our fave celebs and Style Ravens soon.
Besides the bags, they were flowers, straw hats, chained belt straps, bracelets and monogrammed and embroidered details that all came together to create an unforgettable collection. Not forgetting to mention the garden-style gloves, colour-blocked sneakers and patent leather rain-boots which showed up on the runway.
The Virgil Abloh LV SS20 collection came in a colour palette that ranged from lavender to salmon and seafoam green to buttery pastel yellow. There were also palettes of blue, pink and more demure tones of greys and whites which were largely featured on rucksacks and crocodile skin pouches.
The designs included utilitarian-styled outwear and suit jackets, technical pants with multiple straps and pockets and perfectly pleated trousers. There was also lightweight, loose-fitting suiting and sporty performance gear such as anoraks, ponchos and cargo pants.
