Just like every most carrier oils, the uses of castor oil are endless. Castor oil is the multi-tasking traditional remedy for do many skin and hair problems, as well as for a variety of health issues such as joint pains and upset stomach. It is an anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-oxidant oil derived from castor seeds.

It can be used as a cleanser

Research has shown that castor oil is an effective cleansing, toning and moisturizing agent that aims to deep clean facial pores and get rid of blackhead causing debris. In order to use castor oil to deep clean pores, mix it with a light oil like apricot oil, olive oil or jojoba oil and massage it into your facial skin gently and thoroughly.

It can be used to fade scars

You can get rid of stubborn scars from old injuries with castor oil. The fatty acids in the oil penetrate through the epidermal skin layers over the scar tissue and gently soften it out while promoting growth of new cells. This process could take a while to show results.

For longer lashes

Castor oil targets the bulb of your eyelashes giving them nutrients like vitamin E that stimulate growth. For best results, apply castor oil right along your lash line. You don’t need to apply a lot of it – use an eyeliner brush to apply it as you would mascara.

It could be used to erase wrinkles

The fatty acids in castor oil can easily penetrate through skin layers and stimulate production of collagen and elastin. This not only repairs and softens your skin, but also delays the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, giving you a younger, smoother and softer look. Castor oil is the best inexpensive botox treatment you can get and it works especially well for crow’s feet or dark circles around the eyes.

For smoother lips

Due to its high fatty acid content, it smooths chapped lips, and makes them super smooth. For best results, apply castor oil to your lips twice daily. It does taste a bit unpleasant, so don’t use too much, and consider combining it with something like olive oil.

It can be used as a moisturizer

Not only is castor oil rich in fatty acids, the fatty acids can easily be absorbed into skin layers, thus removing dry patches and dark eye circles and restoring hydration to the skin. The unique combination of fatty acids in castor oil makes it an important ingredient in the skincare industry.

When trying any of these treatments, it is best to apply it in the evening after you removed your makeup, at least 30 minutes before going to bed. This way it will have enough time to get absorbed and won’t end up on your pillow.
