With another weekend around the corner, how are you planning on spending your time? Irrespective of what you’re getting into, nothing stops you from plugging your ears or speakers and catching up with all the latest Nigerian songs you may have missed out on this week. Talk about multitasking!
If you think for once that the Nigerian music industry ever sleeps, then you’re dulling. Oldies are being renewed, experienced musicians are coming back on to the scene while new ones are giving us fresh beats to bob our heads to. To fuel your weekend, we have curated some of the latest Nigerian songs you should listen to.
Here are 5 latest Nigerian songs to catch up to before the weekend is over…
1. Simi – Small Ting
Simi is back with her sonorous voice not too long after she served us her Omo Charlie Champagne album and left her records label X3M Music. Leaving her records label didn’t mean she wasn’t going to do more music. In fact, Simi has been taking production classes and she has put her knowledge to test as she wrote, mixed, produced and mastered this track all by herself.
2. Gen2G ft. Terry G – Weree (Mad)
After knacking us akpako, it seemed like Terry G retired from the music scene. But that is not the case as he has teamed up with Gen2G on this track that will make you leave your seat and scatter the dance floor this weekend. As usual, you can hear the sounds of the bells in the background and that is synonymous with Terry G music.
3. Broda Shaggi – Shi
Being an Instagram comedian, one would expect that his music would bring that same comedy vibe. However, Broda Shaggi keeps shocking us all as he is making his marks as a musician. ‘Shi’ is a Yoruba word which literally means open. The track sees Shaggi praying for doors of success for himself.
4. Eedris Abdulkareem – Farewell To Ambode
Remember Eedris and the Nigeria Jaga Jaga song back in 2004? How time flies! This time he’s back and he’s bidding farewell to the Lagos State governor Akinwunmi Ambode who’s set to hand over office on the 29th of May to Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
5. Splendid ft. Prof Victor Uwaifo – Guitar Boy
Splendid is taking us back in time with his version of ‘Guitar Boy’ by Victor Uwaifo. The best part about this track is that the OBC records leading act did not change the original tune a lot. The track which is produced by Flameice (Otis) retains the original sound with Splendid’s twist on the lyrics.
