5 Family Friendly Indoor Games To Enjoy For A Good Weekend Fun

A creative writer with a voracious appetite for fashion, beauty,…
Although more and more countries are loosening up their strict Covid-19 rules, it’s still imperative to take adequate steps to ensure your safety and that of others. That is to say that staying at home is still a good idea, unless you certainly must go out. While spending time at home could tend to be boring (that is if you aren’t binge-watching series), there’re some indoor games you can explore to make that time memorable. What’s a better way to bond with family over the weekend than with some good ‘ol games?
Family time can be a fun time and our obsessive addiction to technology doesn’t have to be in the way. In order to get the best of your bonding sessions, choose games that’ll appeal to every age grade. In order words, mom, dad, teenage Jeremy and little Lucy should all get their kick out of these moments. While it may seem that it isn’t possible to please all age grades, it is easier than you may think. Luckily, we’ve curated these family indoor games that everyone would find totally exciting.
Check out 5 indoor games to delight the whole family…
#1. Build your family photo album

Set up an area indoor where the family can gather between activities and meals to do crafts. Everyone can be asked to bring copies of their favorite family photos that can be compiled into a family photo album. Also, encourage everyone to decorate their own pages over the course of the weekend. This way everyone is involved and also engaged. The memories certainly last a lifetime.
Things you’ll need:
- Construction paper (cardboard papers or old cartons can be used)
- Glue
- Scissors (opt for child-safe scissors if you have little ones)
- Crayons, markers, colored pencils or pens
- Glitter (can be messy but it will add the sparkle little Lucy loves).
- A blank scrapbook
#2. Bowling indoor games

You don’t need a fancy bowling court to play this game. All you need is team spirit and a leveled space indoors that act as your bowling “lane”. Household items that can act as pins include empty water bottles and/or plastic cups. A small softball works best for indoor bowling so that your appliances can be safe (lol). That is to say, no heavy objects are needed. If you have a large family, you can make it an indoor team game by creating “teams”.
#3. Classic board/table games

Games like Scrabble, monopoly, WHOT, snakes and ladder, draft, ludo, chess etc., are all fun indoor games that not only task your brain but also make staying indoors educating and fun. It’s ok if you don’t have these games at home as app stores have the digital versions readily available for download. However, there’s no harm in purchasing physical versions too.
#4. Charades indoor games

Before playing this game, print out animal or word pictures. Then, cut out each individual picture and fold each in half before putting it into a bucket. Start the game by having a family member choose a piece of paper. The person then needs to act out the animal (or whatever image is in the card) silently, while the other family members try to guess what is being portrayed. Once a right guess is made, choose another person who has not picked a piece of paper yet, and then the circle and fun continue. Charades games are so versatile and can be played by preschoolers too.
#5. Hide and seek

While this game is as old as I can remember, it’s also super fun. If you have little ones at home, this indoor game will help to build their stamina and develop their coordination and agility as well. Undoubtedly, this is a great way to have fun while building character in the process.
