3 Easy DIY Facial Masks And 3 Reasons Your Skin Will Thank You For Them | SR Beauty

Applying a mask to my face is one of my best skincare routines because there’s no need for the spa! Everyone should definitely use a face mask from time to time as they are the perfect skincare treatment to help with most superficial skin concerns. The right face mask can help hydrate skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of your pores.

Over the course of each day, facial skin gets its pores blocked from all sorts of dirt, grime and makeup piled on it, which really weighs down the skin and there has to be a way to get all these off. To get this build up off, you have to exfoliate! After exfoliating and generally taking care of the skin, there should be some sort of nurturing to be done for it regularly, this is where facial masks come in.

There are a variety of facial masks available in the market and some you can make at home. Some of these masks are to be worn at night, while you are sleeping while others can be used for a short time period before taking a bath or shower. No matter which type of mask you choose to wear, be assured that your skin will hugely benefit from it. Masks, especially hydrating and brightening ones, do wonders in ensuring the skin retains its elasticity, youthfulness, smoothness and the list goes on.

Here are three top reasons to use facial masks often and the masks that work the magic.

1. Milk + Egg White Mask: Hydrates the skin

A face mask helps hydrate the skin. The water from the mask penetrates deep into the skin epidermis to soften the skin and enhance its elasticity thereby giving a more plump and youthful appearance to the skin. A homemade facial mask with milk and egg whites is great for the skin. Use a facial mask often to restore moisture and unclog pores.

2. Oatmeal + Honey Mask: Removes excess sebum/oil

Oily skin is the result of the overproduction of sebum from sebaceous glands. Sebum isn’t all bad since it helps protect and moisturize your skin and keep your hair shiny and healthy. However, too much sebum may lead to oily skin, which can lead to clogged pores and acne. A face mask gently removes acne-causing bacteria and oil that makes us break out. Applying a paste formed from oatmeal, water and honey can help calm inflamed skin and absorb excess oil.

3. Banana Mask: Diminishes fine lines

Wrinkles or fine lines, although the natural biological process of the skin, are often dreaded by women and men from young to older age groups. Regular use of face masks can reduce the signs of ageing and provide you with softer and smoother skin texture. Mashed banana pulp or even fresh pineapple juice applied to the face for 20 – 25 minutes daily help to reduce fine lines.
