The Mike Adenuga Foundation (MAF), established by business mogul, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr., has donated the sum of N1.5 billion to support Nigeria’s fight against the global coronavirus pandemic.
Giving the breakdown of the N1.5 billion donation, the Foundation said that “N1billion will go to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) which is coordinating efforts to raise funds from corporate bodies to support the initiatives aimed at combating the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, while the Lagos State Government which has recorded the majority of the cases will get N500 million.”
The cheque was presented by Globacom’s Executive Vice Chairman, Bella Disu to the Lagos State Governor on Monday.

1. Drake finally shares photos of his son Adonis
Drake has for the first time shared photos of his son, Adonis on Instagram with a very emotional message for him. Drake had revealed back in 2018 about the existence of his son, in his album.
The rapper took to his Instagram page on Monday, March 30, 2020, where he shared a series of his son’s photos. It would be recalled that in 2018, Drake laid to rest the rumours of him fathering a son as he confirmed his existence on his album. In the album ‘Scorpion,’ Drake referred to his son, Adonis in some songs.
Drake and former adult movie star turned artist and activist, Sophie Brussaux welcomed their son back in 2017.
2. Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde tests positive for coronavirus
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate,” Makinde tweeted on Monday evening.
“I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe,” he added.
3. Sierra Leone scraps ban on pregnant girls from going to school
The government of Sierra Leone has overturned a ban on pregnant girls from attending school. The ministry of education said it was committed to ensuring all children had the right to go to school, regardless of their status.
In December, the West African regional bloc’s court ruled that the ban was unlawful as it infringed on human rights. The measure was introduced in 2015 when an epidemic of the Ebola disease led to school closures and an increase in teenage pregnancies. Thousands of girls were affected by the ban which forced them to attend special schools or leave altogether and forbade them from taking exams.
Around 30% of girls in Sierra Leone become pregnant and 40% are married by the age of 18.
4. France reports record 418 coronavirus deaths in 24 hours
France reported its highest daily number of deaths since the coronavirus epidemic began, saying 418 more people had died in the hospital to bring the toll to 3,024.
There are now 20,946 people hospitalised in France with COVID-19, with 5,056 of them in intensive care, the government said in its daily update.
5. Lionel Messi announces Barcelona players will take 70% pay cut
Barcelona players will take a 70% pay cut during the coronavirus pandemic and make additional contributions to ensure non-sporting staff receive full wages. Captain Lionel Messi said the move was delayed as the players were “looking for a formula to help the club.”
Juventus players and manager Maurizio Sarri agreed to freeze their pay for four months at the weekend.
While some players are contributing to end the pandemic, some are contributing to the spread. Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish will be disciplined and fined for ignoring government guidance to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic, the Premier League club said today.
British media reported earlier that West Midlands Police had opened an investigation after Grealish was photographed leaving an estate in the suburbs of Birmingham on Sunday morning shortly after a traffic accident.
The 24-year-old Grealish apologised in a video on Twitter shortly before Villa issued a statement saying they would take disciplinary action against him.
