Saturday night, the stars gathered at Eko Hotel and Suites as the 7th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards seized the city of Lagos. The 2020 AMVCAs red carpet, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Toke Makinwa, kicked off at about 4 pm and by the end of the night, it was pretty evident why the AMVCAs has become known as the African Oscars. Now in its 7th edition, the AMVCAs recognizes outstanding achievement in television and film in the previous year. The event always has celebrities and invited guests step out in some of their boldest, most creative looks. African actors and actresses showed up in their A-game to this year’s event which was hosted for the 7th time by Nigeria’s IK Osakioduwa. A new female co-host, in the person of Kenya’s Amina Abdi Rabar, brought a fresh flair to the event.
As usual, we were on the lookout for the most Rave-worthy looks. Arriving in a sculpted organza number by Gaurav Gupta, Ghanaian actress Nana Akua Addo was undeniably the best-dressed celebrity of the night. From her hair to makeup to manicure, her look was the one to beat.
The champagne-coloured gown fitted her curvy body to perfection and was the ideal hue for her stunning dark complexion. Nana Akua Addo stole the night and Instagram agrees. In less than 24 hours, the look has already gained her more than 10,000 new IG followers (and counting).
Timeless dresses, contemporary gowns and a sprinkle of avant-garde designs ensured that the night was a fashionably rich one. Former BBNaija housemate Ifu Ennada kept health and safety in mind with her outfit choice, even though the coronavirus has had a very limited reach in Nigeria. The beauty entrepreneur showed up in a bedazzled three-piece suit, complete with a matching “mask” by Nigerian fashion house Elegante by Tianah.
In selecting the best-dressed looks of the night, our Editors considered factors like a great fit, appropriate details, impeccable finishing, relevant accessories and overall styling, including hair and makeup. The key to winning the jury over was a stellar delivery and the ladies on this list delivered!
