Saturday night, the stars gathered at Eko Hotel and Suites as the 7th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards seized the city of Lagos. The 2020 AMVCAs red carpet, hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu and Toke Makinwa, kicked off at about 4 pm and by the end of the night, it was pretty evident why the AMVCAs has become known as the African Oscars.

Now in its 7th edition, the AMVCAs recognizes outstanding achievement in television and film in the previous year. The event always has celebrities and invited guests step out in some of their boldest, most creative looks. African actors and actresses showed up in their A-game to this year’s event which was hosted for the 7th time by Nigeria’s IK Osakioduwa. A new female co-host, in the person of Kenya’s Amina Abdi Rabar, brought a fresh flair to the event.

As usual, we were on the lookout for the most Rave-worthy looks. Like the ladies, the men arrived in a variety of looks that ranged from African-inspired contemporary designs to classic crisp suits to fashion-forward looks like Denola Grey’s avant-garde tuxedo design.

Sharing how his look came to be, Denola captioned an Instagram post,

“Creating this look with Mariam and the @mazelle.studio team, was a true collaboration, from sketch to finish. We got together and made sure everything came out perfectly like what I had in mind. My inspiration was from a piece I saw in a Bostonian museum. Using my natural silhouette as a medium, we created a look that complemented my frame while delivering a 3-Dimensional look that didn’t overwhelm. I felt powerful in this. And was also nervous as it was a new direction and risk. A risk that paid off…”

The risk sure paid off as his look became the unforgettable look of the night. But we were just as impressed with the gents that repped the culture in traditional-inspired pieces as seen on Banky W, 2baba, Don Jazzy and Nollywood actor Stan Nze.

In selecting the best-dressed looks of the night, our Editors considered factors like a great fit, appropriate details, impeccable finishing, relevant accessories and overall styling, including hair and grooming. The key to winning the jury over was a stellar delivery and the men on this list delivered!

Here are the best-dressed men at the 2020 AMVCAs…
