With valentine’s day around the corner, Nigerian musicians are lighting up the music scenes with their latest releases. First off is Mama Africa, Yemi Alade teaming up with African legend and Grammy award winner Angélique Kidjo to bring us Shekere. The duo highlighted various African cultures through dance and fashion as Yemi adorned various beaded looks and Ankara prints, while Angélique was seen in an eye-catching Zulu headdress.

While Yemi Alade and the Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo were doing Shekere with the Massai people, dancehall superstar, Patoranking was informing us that he is in love. Want to know what your fave musicians have been up to as you relax this weekend?

1. Yemi Alade, Angelique Kidjo – Shekere

Yemi Alade and Angelique Kidjo delivered a beautiful song named after the tambourine-like instrument played in various regions of the continent. The feel-good lyrics in English and Yoruba over an upbeat tempo complete with interpolations of Angelique Kidjo’s 1996 classic “Wombo Lombo,” makes for just the right start to the weekend. 

2. Patoranking – I’m In Love

In this season of love, Patoranking is doing more than just sing about his being in love. After the launch of his education foundation and scholarship program, he gifts us with a new single titled I’m In Love

He sings about being in love with a woman who’s the only one in his corner. He goes on to hype his woman as he showers her with praises. 


3. Tekno, Masterkraft – Beh Beh

For his first single of the year, Afrobeat star Tekno teams up with Masterkraft to sing about his Beh Beh. Tekno sings about letting go of other women for his baby and wants her to dance reggae and blues with him.

4. Phyno x Harrysong x illbliss x KezyKlef – Focus

Nigerian rapper, Illbliss, indigenous rapper, Phyno and talented singer, Harrysong came together to deliver the perfect single titled Focus. According to the trio, no matter what you’re on about, you should learn to hustle and focus. After all, “talk talk no dey bring money, garri don cost for market, the girl is fine she go need money and love no dey for mouth.”


5. Ice Prince Ft. Skales – Tatabara

You don’t have to understand the Hausa language for you to enjoy this single from Ice Prince and Skales. This love jam is just the ideal music to end the weekend with. Tatabara which means to collect has the duo asking their baby to collect what they give as she gives them everything they like.
