Fashion is experimental and proof of this can be seen in the diverse and eclectic styles seen on everyday people on the streets and collections released by designers as they try their current best to outdo the last. Purposely or premeditatedly, fashion has been etched in our minds, that’s both men and women’s, as a means of expression. This is why there are different styles for various moods, occasions and personalities, even when it comes to African men’s fashion.
Last week, the men in the African fashion and entertainment industries were all out on expression as their styles were colourful, clean and daring. Tanzanian musician Ommy Dimpoz blessed our sights by wearing a purple LV blazer he paired with a pair of black joggers and a set of accessories that further proved his mastery of style. Talk about a #MegaSlay.
South African fashion photographer and stylist, Trevor Stuurman went the neutral route wearing black and white head to toe. His striped blazer set would leave you making wardrobe changes. Speaking of neutral, Ghana’s number one rapper, Sarkodie went all white and casual for his performance last weekend and the result was equal parts effortless and debonair. We sure do love a celebrity that can kill a monochrome look.
Mr P of the defunct PSquare was casually dapper as he posed in a bomber jacket, embellished shirt and detailed pants set. The pieces come from his soon to be launched clothing line, tagged Zip Republic Clothing, coming sometime in 2020.
Overall, it was a good week for menswear fashion in Africa and we’ve curated the best looks for your inspiration.
