3. Scientists are very close to curing Ebola in Congo

Ebola may soon be a “preventable and treatable” disease after a trial of two drugs showed significantly improved survival rates, scientists have said.

Four drugs were tried on patients in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where there has been a major outbreak of the virus which has killed thousands. More than 90% of infected people can survive if treated early with the most effective drugs, the research showed. The drugs will now be used to treat all patients with the disease in DR Congo, according to health officials.

The US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), which co-sponsored the trial, said the results are “very good news” for the fight against Ebola. The drugs, named REGN-EB3 and mAb114, work by attacking the Ebola virus with antibodies, neutralizing its impact on human cells.

Priyanka Chopra got into an intense argument with a former fan during Beautycon, who accused her of being a hypocrite due to a tweet about the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict. In the tweet, Priyanka wrote “Jai Hind” (which means “Victory to India”) and used the hashtag #IndianArmedForces.

The tweet sparked controversy at the time, but a woman confronted Priyanka Chopra about it during a recent Beautycon interview, saying “It was kind of hard hearing you talk about humanity because as your neighbour, a Pakistani, I know you’re a bit of a hypocrite. You are a UNICEF ambassador for peace and you’re encouraging nuclear war against Pakistan, there’s no winner in this. As a Pakistani, millions of people like me have supported you in your business…”

Priyanka responded by saying “I hear you, whenever you’re done venting. Done? Done? Okay, cool. I have many many friends from Pakistan, and I am from India. War is not something that I’m really fond of, but I am patriotic, so…I’m sorry if I’ve hurt sentiments, to people who do love me, and have loved me. But I think all of us have a sort of middle ground that we all have to walk, just like you probably do as well.”

She continued, “The way you came at me right now, girl, don’t yell, we’re all here for love. Don’t yell. Don’t embarrass yourself. But we all walk that middle ground, but thank you for your enthusiasm and your question, and your voice.” Priyanka Chopra’s reaction and response is causing quite the stir on social media and she is yet to respond to the BeautyCon fiasco.

His trainer Manny Robles says “there’s a reason why” Ruiz has kept silent. Hearn, who promotes Joshua, said: “Both fighters signed for this fight. The governing bodies have been informed.”
