Arise Fashion Week 2019 took off on Friday, April 19 with a good number of emerging and eminent brands showcasing their designs on what’s been hailed as “the most beautiful runway in Africa.” The venue was the Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island as the South African brand, Rich Mnisi delivered a well structured and crafted collection.
The brand named after the owner, Rich Mnisi displayed an Afro-punk collection which explores Africa’s heritage through its cuts and designs. Each piece of the collection has a unique story to them.
Rich Mnisi distinctively worked with a wide range of everything. Patterns that varied from prints to plaid, fabrics from sheer to cotton and leather. He worked with both bold and soft colours, down to the accessories. Designed patterns were not left out. He worked with cushioned collars, ruffled hems, colour blocking and puffy sleeves as well which gave the collection a vintage-vibe.
It is very clear Rich Mnisi is inspired by sources outside as well as in fashion. This led him to him creating and curating the perfect collection for Arise Fashion Week 2019.
