It is no longer news that a timeless sense of style is not just about what you wear but how you wear it. And this year, African men, both celebrities and influencers have proven that one doesn’t have to dress dramatically elegant or wear the hottest looks to make a fashion statement.
It’s admittedly a tough job to choose the best celebrity looks of the year so far when every day brings epic new ones to choose from some of the hottest African men. So far in 2019, African male celebrities and influencers have been out and about the continent and the world wearing some of the most sartorially inspiring looks we’ve seen in recent years. Which explains why we couldn’t even wait for the year to end before curating this list.
This year has been all about bold colours, bolder prints and wildly unconventional style. The men have left their comfort zones to try out new styles, especially the very ones most men shy away from. We’ve seen everything from reimagined classics to retro style to avant-garde looks to strong cases for African print. While we wouldn’t recommend you copy some of these looks exactly (unless you’re prepared to make a scene), you should take these flexes as a reminder that style is so much more than a designer t-shirt and good jeans. Make the remaining four months of 2019 the period you go for it in your wardrobe, whatever that means for you, and watch how your personal brand explodes by simply being more adventurous with your style.
