10 Ultra Chic Ways To Rock The Sheer Trend In 2023

exy dressing continues to evolve. It’s almost like a shapeshifter. Sheer, for one, has become understated and soft. Unlike the years when see-through was perceived as a ratchet expression, the SS23 runways beg to differ. Recently, we have seen celebrities like Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley redefine the sheer trend in a sophisticated and sensual manner. This isn’t to say the fierce and edgy renderings would pipe low in 2023. It simply means that style stars can opt for the subtility of see-through takes or the fierceness of no-so-sheer options depending on the mood.

The sheer trend has also heavily influenced bridal fashion with its high-powered aura. The latest bridal collections feature heavy embellishments and see-through textures. Another way sheer has got everyone camping is through its versatile layering abilities. This technique has moved the dynamic piece from a bold risqué style move to a prevalent fashion centerpiece. Even the conservatives who would have otherwise scoffed at the extremity of the naked style trend have caved in and are perhaps in their “trend-testing” era. We have the likes of LaQuan Smith and Rick Owens to thank for this tenacious trend’s breakthrough.

The infamous Miu Miu sheer knit sets remain in high demand. They’ve been spotted on countless magazine covers and A-list red carpets. We’ve seen other imaginative brands like Prada “knitly” match the energy. If you like to get on board early on trends, you’re almost behind schedule on this one.

#2. Sheer headdresses

Wearable art often finds its place in ornaments that bring drama. Headdresses have always had their place in statement accessorizing for decades. A dramatic sheer headdress like the one Michelle Yeoh dons is all the statement your ensemble requires for a pompous formal event.

You can go full-on dramatic by throwing your sheer outfit on other textures. For instance, a silk slip dress with sheer details or a shimmery dress with lacy gloves are both intriguing. Translucent fashion is the baddie every fashionista wants a slice of.

#4. Capes on

While sheer numbers leave little imagination, the reserved team takes a liking to layer sheer capes on opaque fabrics. This particular Naeem Khan comes with a bonus hoodie that fires up this monochrome goodness.

A brightly colored pleat dress is a spring-ready option. They can be worn as resort wear for vacation or to the beach on a breezy weekend. This doesn’t demystify the trend’s potency. Don the apt accessories and it’s game over.

If you’re not about to pull a Yasmine Finney with your underwear peeking right through, opt for either a thicker texture or straighten it out with fuller innerwear.

While there are softer options of how to wear the sheer trend in 2023, the traditional black embellished red carpet-ready still etches its place in the sheer scheme of things.

#8. Bodysuits

These coordinates can double as lingerie by night. Otherwise, rock them with denim bottoms or sequined skirts. Creative designer Nensi Dojaka has a certain proclivity to sheer cutouts that should be studied. Even Beyoncé knows to tap into the sheer magic.

#9. Ribbed top

Although a thin substitute for the regular ribbed texture, this isn’t as transparent as a few sheer counterparts. It allows the fit a chance at the everyday wear table. You can wear them to less glamorous locations without stepping down on your style intent.
