1. Megan Thee Stallion sued by cameraman over hostile work environment claim

A cameraman, who formerly worked with Megan Thee Stallion, has sued the rapper, alleging harassment and other workplace-related claims. Emilio Garcia worked as a cameraman for the rapper from 2018 to 2023. He filed a complaint in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday against Megan Thee Stallion, born Megan Pete, and her companies, Megan Thee Stallion Entertainment, Inc., Hot Girl Touring, LLC, and Roc Nation. The suit includes nine labor code violations, including harassment and hostile work environments.

Garcia alleges that Stallion had sex in a moving car which Garcia could not get out of while on tour in Spain in June 2022. The claim notes that Garcia “was embarrassed, mortified, and offended throughout the whole ordeal.” The suit also alleges that Garcia was wrongfully compensated for the duration of his employment, writing that he was misclassified as an independent contractor, which allegedly deprived him of healthcare and overtime pay. He also claims he was routinely denied breaks for rest or meals.

2. Rotimi claims to have brought Afrobeats sound to America

Nigerian-American actor and singer Rotimi has made claims that he was the pioneer in introducing Afrobeats to the United States. However, his claims have been met with backlash from fans. During his interview with the 85 South comedy show, the American star recounted his pivotal moment in opening Wizkid’s inaugural US show in 2012.

He spoke about paving a path for the Afrobeats sound through his hit single, “Love Riddim.” Rotimi’s claims sparked a mixed bag of reactions on social media, with many Nigerians criticizing him. During the interview, Rotimi recalled trying to get his hit single Love Riddim on the radio station. He said the reception was not well met.

3. South African opera singer Innocent Masuku dazzles on Britain’s Got Talent

South African opera singer Innocent Masuku received a standing ovation from the Judges on “Britain’s Got Talent” after he delivered a stirring performance of “Caruso.” Judge Amanda Holden said Masuku was “the best opera singer” Britain’s Got Talent judges had ever seen in all their 17 years. Masuku received four votes from the judges, but the audience and viewers shared disappointment that he did not receive a golden buzzer. Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Zizi Kodwa took to X to congratulate Masuku for his sterling performance and wished him all the best for the competition.

4. The trailer of Tiwa Savage’s film ‘Water & Garri’ has been released

Tiwa Savage has dropped the trailer for her upcoming film “Water & Garri,” which will premiere on Prime Video on May 10. The movie follows the story of Aisha (played by Savage), an ambitious fashion designer who returns to her hometown after years away in the United States. A family loss compels her homecoming, but upon her arrival, Aisha discovers a vastly different reality. The place she once knew is fraught with escalating violence and tension.

Directed by Meji Alabi and produced by Unbound Studio and JM Films, the film was shot in Cape Coast and Ghana and features Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde. In addition to playing the lead role of Aisha, Savage also serves as executive producer, composer, and performer of the original soundtrack.

5. Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino facing fight to save his job

Mauricio Pochettino is facing a battle to keep hold of his job after his Chelsea side were hammered 5-0 by Arsenal in the Premier League. Chelsea suffered more misery on Tuesday after being defeated by Arsenal at the Emirates. Pochettino admitted his team were “so bad” after the game, with a young fan at the match also calling on the players to “fight” for the shirt. The defeat has piled more pressure on Pochettino, who is not guaranteed a second season at the club yet, according to reports. No decision has yet been taken on his future, although he does still retain some support at Stamford Bridge despite a desperately poor season.

Pochettino signed a two-year deal with the option for one more when he arrived in May 2023 but has overseen a poor campaign. The Blues will finish the season empty-handed and face a battle to secure a European spot. Other than the signing of Cole Palmer, there has been very little for Chelsea fans to cheer which has led to doubts over Pochettino’s future. A big summer also awaits for the Blues who may have to offload players to comply with Profit and Sustainability Rules.
