Nigerian movie star Tonto Dikeh has revealed how she sponsored In vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments for seven women in honor of the late beauty queen Ibidun Ighodalo. The movie star made this known via her Instagram page on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Dikeh revealed how Ibidun touched her heart, and she was one of those people who had tried to reach out to her during her difficult times. Ighodalo died on June 14, 2020, at the age of 39.

Tonto Dikeh sponsoring IVF treatments was inspired by Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation, which raises awareness about issues concerning infertility and provides grants for couples requiring fertility treatment.

2. CNN’s Christiane Amanpour reveals cancer diagnosis

Longtime CNN journalist, Christiane Amanpour, is undergoing treatment for ovarian cancer. Amanpour shared the news with her viewers during Monday night’s CNN broadcast, revealing that she has had surgery to remove the cancer and will undergo several months of chemotherapy. The 63-year-old journalist had been off-air for the past four weeks due to the diagnosis.

She utilized the moment to urge women to educate themselves on the disease, which she pointed out affects millions of women worldwide.

3. South Africa: Khanyi Mbau slams pregnancy rumors

Media personality Khanyi Mbau has debunked speculations concerning an alleged pregnancy that sprouted after she posted a picture on Instagram. This shot led fans to believe she had a brewing baby bump. Khanyi had to stop the rumor mill in its tracks as fans got into gear to throw her a baby shower.

Khanyi had originally posted the snap with the word “Monopeachi” as her caption. Still, as soon as the comments came rolling in with fans asking her if she is pregnant, Khanyi edited the caption to add clarity.

4. Ghana hosts ECOWAS Summit this week

Ghana will, from today, host the Mid-Year Statutory Meetings of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Accra, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Ms. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has announced. The meetings will include the 59th ordinary session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government scheduled for June 19.

The meetings were held following the successful completion of the 29th ordinary session of the Administration and Finance Committee (AFC) of ECOWAS, which was also held in Accra.

The AFC is made up of experts from the ministries of Foreign Affairs and Finance of ECOWAS member states. The outcome of their session held from June 8-12 will inform deliberations at the session of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday and Thursday.

5. Christian Eriksen provides health update from hospital

Christian Eriksen, who collapsed on the pitch in Denmark’s opening Euro 2020 match, said he was doing “fine” as he took to Instagram to give an update on his health from the hospital on Tuesday. While saying he is doing fine, Eriksen added that he still has to go through some examinations at the hospital and shared his photo from the hospital bed while smiling and giving a thumbs up.

The horrifying scene shocked the sporting world as the 29-year-old Inter Milan midfielder suddenly collapsed on the field in the 43rd minute of the match between Denmark and Finland in Copenhagen.

Medical personnel rushed onto the pitch and administered CPR as he lay motionless for 15 minutes before being stretchered off the pitch and rushed to the hospital. The medical staff later confirmed that Eriksen had suffered a cardiac arrest.
