The Lagos-based lifestyle concept store, Temple Muse will host the launch of the much anticipated ‘TWENTY7’ Collection by Ituen Basi in a special installation on Saturday 18th August.
The new collection to be launched by Temple Muse pays homage to Fela Anikulapo Kuti and his 27 Wives.
According to the brand,
“Ituen Basi was recently commissioned to produce costumes for the critically acclaimed musical ‘Fela and the Kalakuta Queens’ which after extensive research resulted in an expressive set of costumes for all the lead characters in the show.
The musical and whole creative process inspired the latest collection from Ituen Basi which infused the history from her research into a stellar RTW collection that was showcased in South Africa Fashion Week earlier this year”.
The collection features a rich vibrant colour palette, exquisite fabric manipulation, contemporary silhouettes, playful tassels, and intricate embroideries. Ankara, Aso Oke, lace, crepe, tulle, and jersey are key fabrics used in this collection which includes duster coats, cigarette, and palazzo pants, full skirts, fitted tops and bodycon dresses.
